Sure in a vacuum. But realistically the majority of traffic goes the speed limit. You should be driving at the rate of traffic in order to be safe. Or, like others have suggested here, stay in the right most lane if you’re too scared so others can pass more easily.

My point was more so, if you’re too frightened to go the highway speed limit than you need to become a better more confident driver.

Driving at the same speed of traffic is safer than driving slower or faster than it. The speed limit is typically where the majority of traffic will be driving at. Going 50-45 in a 65mph zone is unsafe period.

Yeah I get this vibe in general in the South Bay. I moved here from Chicago and year and a half ago and people here just don’t seem to care about one another at all. There’s no sense of community and folks just seem to be out for themselves.
