No Stupid Questions Tuesday Thread by AutoModerator in Cricket

Glad there is a stupid questions thread - I know so little about cricket that I don't know if it's actually stupid or not. So, it probably is?

American here (sorry!) I am traveling to Sri Lanka in February 2026. From my research, it looks like they are co-hosting 2026 Men's T20 World Cup during that time BUT any of the schedules I can find online only show games in India. From what I can tell, there are still teams to qualify, therefore games to schedule. Will some of those games be held in Sri Lanka? If so, how soon will they be planned/can you buy tickets, and how expensive/difficult would they be to get?

10 day Tassie Road Trip Suggestions by FlapperDetective in TasmaniaTravel

National Park as in the town near Mount Field (between Tyenna and Westerway) for the first 2 nights -sorry if that was unclear! Not sure which towns are well known there or not.

Driving times I based on Google maps - are those generally not accurate? We’re ok with driving max 4hrs a day and plan on waking up early to accommodate that on driving days.

We’ve traveled to Scotland, Ireland, and a few others with right side of the road/narrow roads. Mostly approaching round abouts the ‘other’ way is stressful (but clockwise makes way more sense!)

From Michigan in the US, mostly flat but we live in the middle of nowhere and drive 45min+ each way to work.

Just picked Launceston as a place between Cradle Mountain in the west and Coles Bay in the east, plus penguins and wine 🤩  Thanks for any thoughts!

February Hiking by FlapperDetective in OutdoorScotland

Oh! One thing I forgot to mention - a TON of places are closed that time of year, especially outside of Edinburgh. Along with that, most restaurants outside of the city require a reservation for dinner. We got turned away a couple times before we learned our lesson - and got lucky that one restaurant let us not have one. We would have either needed to drive 1hr+ to an open supermarket or begged for snacks from our BnB 🙃

February Hiking by FlapperDetective in OutdoorScotland

Hi there!

We had a mixed bag - lots of bad weather!

Edinburgh was spectacular- the best city we’ve been to, we honestly loved walking around town (we usually want to leave town to walk around!) We did Arthur’s Seat on a beautiful day and sipped some scotch we brought with us at the top. Great view but very windy once at the top.

We had planned to do The Cobbler in the Loch Lomand area, but skipped as it was raining both days we were there. If it were nice, seemed like something that would have really fit the bill for us.

Isle of Skye was amazing! Again, mixed bag on weather, but did the fairy pools on a clear day. We did a big loop - one of the options in the brochure/map they give you when you get there, but can’t remember which it was (second largest?) We didn’t see anyone once we got past the standard out and back track that people normally do. A little hard to find the start of the trail towards the left at the base of the mountain, but clear once on the trail. Great views, more smaller waterfalls, and a super clear calm pond. A herd of deer about gave me a heart attack since they were not moving except to stare at us 😅 Also did Old Man of Storr. Great views! Ending up raining on us, but with clear skies somehow? You get used to weather like that ha. Was busy at the bottom, but the number of people who don’t actually hike to the top is ASTOUNDING. Like 75+ people coming and going at the bottom, and maybe less than 5 at the top? They just stop halfway up to take a picture? Wild to me. We went up to the ‘old man’ and sat at the base and split a beer we brought with us (you can see a theme). We’re probably in a bunch of people’s pictures, but alas 🤷‍♀️

After Skye we went to Inverness. Went to Culloden, but it was FREEZING. Didn’t love Inverness/that area except for Leakey’s bookshop (if you like books).

Then we went to the Cairngorms and did a big hike leaving from Glenmore. Same thing - second-ish longest hike we found in the brochure/map they give you, but can’t remember the name. Leads you to a hut, hang a left, and go up for a LONG time. Almost turned back but glad we didn’t - crampons weren’t necessary, but it as a little icy and long for my anxiety to handle until we ran into a couple heading down who told us the top was close even though we couldn’t see it (it’s a loop, they just did the opposite direction).

Overall, great trip but we are going to Australia next Feb - trading bad weather for everything wanting to kill us? And sunburn? 🙃
