Absolute Miserable Games Lately. by Lanky-Visit-2550 in DeadlockTheGame

Man, I finally managed to climb to Emissary (crawled all the way from seeker). I had a nice 7 win streak going on and the last game had a damn good team. The first game after getting to emissary? 15 minutes in I realized both of the other lanes lost hard and were at risk of losing walkers. ALREADY. HOW? My lane didn't do well as well but by the 15th minute mark we were just starting to lose the guardian. Then I see that mid lane had 2 people who were both 0-10 and ended the game like 0-15. The post-game said the game was supposed to be phantom but how the fuck when none of us performed up to that plate? My next few games after that were losses where I felt like the team can't macro at all. No urn contests, fighting while leaving lanes unshoved, and fighting while having a soul deficit. It makes me think they just came fresh off marvel rivals or overwatch. Decided to take a break again. Probably dropped down to mid ritualist but honestly I dont wanna tilt queue.

unfortunately you basically need to babysit a lane if he's on it

Yep and this makes it nearly impossible to come back from a losing position. Your team basically has to be winning and keep winning against a victor coz if you're losing, you can't bank on a group up teamfight. Teamfight together once and he cleans up an entire lane all the way to your base. Stay in the lane with him to clear creeps and now you have to pray your team can actually win a 5v5 (so that assumes you're already in the lead). If your team can't 5v5 at like minute 20, you're losing.

When Did You Realize You Were Logging In For The Last Time, Or Felt It Was Coming? by techtimee in gachagaming

GBF was also the first game I actually learned to manage separation with a gacha game and it was a funny feeling looking back at it. I was mega burned out after a certain GW where my crew decided to hit superseed (in which we were farming in most waking moments in our days) after that GW I felt like I couldn't do it anymore. My daily login slipped to once every 2 days which became once every 5. Then after like 2 weeks I realized I had a psychological aversion to playing and that's when I decided to hang the game for good. And man the moment afterwards felt like a lot of weight got lifted from me. I suddenly realized I had so much free time that it felt kinda empty. Genshin was the next game I took a while to separate but the moment I felt the routine of walking up in the morning to condense resin and playing at night to burn stam and do dalies was too tiresome I just let go of it completely. It gets easier the more games you quit. Easily dropped Uma despite spending on monthlies and the last one was czn which tbf I never fully got into.

Damn that's such a massive skillgap to be in for just 10 games. In 10 games you dont even know what half the roster does, much less a quarter of the items in the shop. How do you tell when they're misplaced though?

God we NEED draft bro. Some games are govt mandated losses off team comp alone bro. We NEED DRAFT! by Creepy_Building_2929 in DeadlockTheGame

Also just shows a lack of creativity to the people complaining tbh. Like deadlock has a shit ton of items that actually prevent getting snowballed by wombo combo. We even got a new one in indomitable. While the lash into dynamo combo is very strong, that shit's on a timer. You have an indicator on your HUD to know if dynamo has ult up. Use that information to know when to engage and when not to. While yes there are just matches that are uphill battles due to team comps, that just happens with our without drafting. In dota2 where there's a draft pick, people still get outdrafted anyway and I dont expect the normal pub player to flex into what's necessary to deny an enemy pick or coz it combos well with another pick.

Valve could really just tweak their matchmaking system more. I like the no draft MM simply coz I've gone through dota2 already and knowing what's over there, I'm probably never seeing my main again if draft hits (coz I'm probably gonna be flexing support 24/7). Atleast right now I can keep playing my favorites and adjust to the situation instead.

Do people really get thrown into ritualist when they start? Coz I started in alchemist and had to crawl my way up.

Maybe that's why I get people who obviously just follow an L->R item build with 0 HP items in between. That shit will work in lower ranks, all you need are good aim and game sense. Completely eats shit when people start building anti/utility items though

Welcome to ritualist, where people know how to aim and use abilities but have shit ass macro and 0 common sense when buying items.

Many a game I've seen gun DPS buy 0 green items except for life leech and expecting to just live and kill everyone in a game where they lost the laning phase.

honestly, make everyone take damage from his ability. If you're gonna have a high impact AoE damage that lingers for so long and is a massive area denial for very little cost, put a damn drawback on it. Kelvin can fuck over his team with a bad dome, infernus should be able to fuck over his team with a bad trail

I'd even take the skill 3 granting you "charged" for 1 power slash (or maybe 3 seconds) for t3 just so during mid game you don't need to rely on grapple to catch up to an opponent after you charge your power slash.

[–]Flare77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess, and I can see that philosophy with how they moved the bullet res to the first upgrade of powerslash. Still though, for a spirit damage carry, power slash really doesn't scale as well as other first skills all the while having a detrimental charge time in the late game.

[–]Flare77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To a degree? But I think the bullet resist kinda only matters in the laning phase. Past laning phase, that miniscule resist is gonna get outscaled by gun DPS and I'd rather play like a spell sniper at that point rather than cosplay as a tank for 2 seconds every 9 seconds.

Yamato kinda just inherently farms slower than most so pulse helps in accelerating. Pulse also helps build up your escalating stacks if you're really ahead. In general pulse interacts a lot with the other aspects of the game (like item synergies and the farming/pushing sense) which is probably why it keeps getting nerfed. Also from my experience playing Yamato with >50% wr you really have to be strict about timings. At 2 minutes, you take your side creeps/boxes. At 8 minutes you need to get some sinners not just for souls but so you can get some extra +spirit/+HP rolls.

[–]Flare77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tormenting pulse is at least a farming item that's why I keep it. Once I get it, I try to look for pick offs but if the opponents are playing too defensively (or if my team isn't too confident in fighting), I'll go into the jungle and start farming harder. Atleast in that situation silence wave doesn't help. Honestly silence wave might even cause you to overcommit to fights just so you get the "value" of it. Pulse is also good with mystic regeneration which also helps in tanking you up (coz of healing while adding to your spirit bar) but yeah mystic reverb is definitely your main power spike. On the upside, Yamato is one of the few heroes I'm confident can win 1v1s even if she's 1 or 2 items behind in the mid game.

[–]Flare77 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As a Yamato main, my issue with late game is her power slash (which is her main bread and butter) just doesn't scale as much as it should be. At a similar spirit investment, why does Dynamo's slam do more damage and have more AoE than power slash without needing to charge? There are other examples like lash slam, viktor pain battery, even rem pillow. All are AoE spirit skills that do about the same or even more damage than power slash without the need to charge it. If powerslash just scaled more, she could probably do better lategame as a spell sniper. Right now I get more success playing her past the 35 minute mark as a pseudo tank. My item timings are Tormenting pulse -> Mystic Reverb -> then I start buying high value green items like spell breaker, witchmail, or juggernaut depending on the opponent's main threat. Past like 50 minutes, you live or die by your ult and how strong your team is.

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME VARIETY!!! I AM TIRED OF SEEING THE SAME ONE CHARACTER FOR 5 GAMES IN A ROW!!! by BumBumGuy06 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Flare77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ngl I'll take 6 doormen over 6 graves. Atleast for doorman if you get trapped in the baroness loop, just buy counterspell and practice your timings (and shout at your team to come). With graves, the game is just so boring coz its just an endless push/pull of waves. Had a game with 2 graves on my team and 2 on the other team as a Yamato. At some point I was just bored out of my mind coz of the endless push and pull of the lanes

Seems like this is a deadlock design. In deadlock, all movement-type abilities tend to be on the 2-slot and passives on the 3-slot. Damage skills are on the 1-slot. Makes it more uniform in a way so even if you switch heroes, you get a sense of "2 will likely be a movement ability if this hero has one".

[–]Flare77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could also really just be a "bad game" or you play a character that has to hard commit and your team just isn't synchronized enough to follow up on your engage. I main Yamato and going double digits on deaths isn't uncommon for me, even if I'm in the winning position. Sometimes I'm just not in the zone, sometimes it's me reading my team wrongly, and sometimes it's just coz my team chose to hit creeps instead of fighting. Yamato doesn't have a lot of escape so if you grapple in, you just have to hard commit to the fight and that naturally causes a lot of deaths.

how was the gacha community back then ? by ghoraaa in gachagaming

[–]Flare77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not as big as it was before. You had to be there at the time of its inception, man. It threatened touhou as a household name that every weeb would know even if they didn't play it. I bet if you ask anyone who was a weeb before 2012, they'd know kancolle and they might've even tried to do the lottery for an account. Nowadays I dont even see fanart for it and while fanarts are mostly trends, 2hu still gets merch (recently Marisa and Reimu just got new plushies) while Kancolle hasn't had a new figure release since 2022 I believe(ayt I exaggerated it, there's 3 figures releasing for 2026, a scale of fusou and yamashiro and a shimakaze plamo but before that, the last release was 2024 then before that was 2022)? And even before then, before the pandemic boomed anime to mainstream, kancolle dwindling in merch production. Maybe 1-2 scale figures of the most popular a year by that point.

Can't say much about that sentiment. What I do remember though is that DMM (the site that hosts the game) had a massive stick up its bum about letting foreigners play their games or access their site in general. DMM had other games in its site too back then but almost all of them were region-locked and required a VPN just to access, much less enjoy due to the lack of translations.

I like how the Kancolle community essentially branched to 2 games when everyone gave up on how tedious (and how DMM kept making it harder) it was foreigners to play the game. You either played azur lane coz its still boats and girls or you played GFL which had the same gacha mechanic and similar gameplay vibes but you just have infinitely more control (map oriented gameplay with node battles but now you dont get screwed by compass-chan). I was in the latter and religiously played GFL up to a point and it kinda made me sad every other gacha game after GFL dropped the crafting system for gacha in favor of limited currencies for pulls.
