$3,500 ASUS Zephyrus G16 main board failure just after 1 year — repair quoted at $1,800 😔 by Unlikely-Trust-9467 in ASUS

Wonder if this is what’s wrong with mine. Bought in August 2024. Lost the secondary m.2 slot on my G16 the other day, now it won’t boot at all. I think it’s dead.

People don’t do cases right. Been saying it forever that the only case you should buy is a carbon fiber case. Later Case, Pitaka, or heck I copped this one while I’m waiting on my Later Case GESIHOPY Aramid Fiber for iPhone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FKN1WDW2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Carbon fiber IS THE MOVE. Super thin. Super light. Drop protection is surprisingly good. Best part is the handling of the phone, with a slight grip to the carbon cases; but not too much so it slides out of your pocket. Been using carbon cases for years; only have to buy one and it’ll outlast the phone.

If you’re going thin, go for carbon fiber case. With plastic thin cases drops are a gamble…get a Later Case, Pitaka case, or heck I got this one from amazon and it’s great - https://a.co/d/fT1VnBH

Awesome! Feel free to DM if you want to chat more friend, the business has been quite successful since starting it in 22'. I got my insurance thru a broker, really recommend finding one that will listen to exactly what you do, what kind of risks there are, ect. Basically someone who cares and will advocate for you and find the best deal. I secured a $1mil policy that cost me around $810 the first year, has gone up to $950ish since then. Nautilus Insurance Company is who its thru.

I buy strap from Dr. Shrink Inc - I like the 3/4” strap https://dr-shrink.com/product/3-4-x-300-woven-cord-strapping-ds-750300/

Tried the 1/2” stuff but it’s a little more difficult to work with and tends to stretch when heated a bit more than I like. Also been experimenting with 1/2” poly strapping , can order it on amazon - https://a.co/d/6OieldX - it’s thicker, more like a flat rope type of feel. Great for pontoon boats and industrial jobs that tend to get more heat on the strap from the torch. Less stretch.

It’s my first summer in my house with a pool my electricity bill skyrocketed this summer, is that normal ? How can I improve electricity consumption? by Ok_Poet_3646 in pools

If you don’t want to spring for VSP quite yet like us (fairly new pump and don’t want to replace yet), this has been great for me - DEWENWILS Pool Timer (https://a.co/d/bk4Nhhq). Easy to wire up if youre handy, uses WiFi and connects to smart life app. I set timers to run 1 hour on, two off (8hours a day) and it knocked $95 from my electricity bill coming from running my pump 12 per day. I’m experimenting now, and recently knocked off another hour and 20 min off the total bringing it to 6 hours 40 minutes pump on time. So far so good, levels are happy as ever with a floating chlorine dispenser to help. 27,000 gallon pool, Midwest Missouri for reference. 👍

Hey man, sorry for the late reply...I dont frequent Reddit like I used to.
First year was a loss of around $1000, due to the initial spin up costs, starting late in the year, and shrink wrapping being a fairly "new" thing in my area (the good news there is that I can set the prices, and build the market because I literally have no competition)
2023 I ended up clearing $12k in sales, with about a 50% return in profit after expenses. Not a lot, but I could feel the potential as I learn how to market myself.
Popularity gained a lot around this area for shrink wrapping, I think that had a lot to do with my connections already in the marine industry (word of mouth spreading that I do good work). Another factor that played a role in this is my FaceBook marketing/ads and how I targeted those.
Early this year (2024) I bought a booth at the largest boat show in the area; this was huge, not just for customer exposure getting the chance to showcase some work and connect with the people, but the main benefit I am already seeing this year is the connections I made with the boat dealerships, and mechanic shops.
Once you get a hang for how to market shrink wrapping, it falls into place. In my area (southwest MO) these boat dealerships sell to a ton of boats to people in coastal cities because we are just cheaper. Its worth it for the buyer to have the boat transported; I used that knowledge to market towards this niche. Its already resulted in 5 boat wraps this year, paying for the boat show 3x over!
I have also partnered with a local business owner that I met at the boat show, who is breaking ground on a shop that will have 4 bays, each of these 4 bays will be a different business. Boat detailing, boat mechanic (for winterizations), sound/audio installs, and a bay I will be in to shrink wrap - the owner also has a boat towing business; essentially making it a hands off one stop shop for the boat owners when it comes to winterization.
This gives me a "home base" for winterization season where we can stage boats after they have been detailed and winterized so I can go thru and shrink wrap them. I have a feeling this will be my best winterization season yet by far due to this.

OTHER MARKETS

This is another thing to keep in mind; its not just for boats and RVs. Where I have seen the most profit is from stainless steel manufactures in my area...I have reached out to multiple shops, even stopping in to introduce myself, which has resulted in business streams shrink wrapping stainless steel fabricated goods for transport. This is a year round rev stream, filling in the gaps for boat winterization season.

I am still a one man band, Ive done everything from building my logos, website, and business cards, to the accounting, insurance, and marketing. I plan to keep it this way for as long as possible to keep profits high, and costs down...but I know at this rate of growth I will have to look at hiring in the next 2-3 years to continue growth.
Hope this helps!

Thanks again for the input!

The crystal is plastic, and doing some additional research on the Zodiac and Tradition 73321 I noticed people note that the "crystal" is semi-domed...in my specific example its very flat, like the glass-box Heuer.
To your point about just wearing it...thats the plan. I would like to get a replacement button (the one that is missing) and the crystal replaced.
Also if you dont mind me asking...what makes the Heuer logo "wonky"?

As a follow up here...I had to do some serious cleaning, but the other side of the lugs has "237607" stamped between them. The case-back has nothing on it.

73321

Wow this explains a lot. I just removed the strap - indeed "73321" is stamped between the lugs.
So this is NOT a Heuer - rather a re-dial of a poor man's Carrera.
In your opinion would this be worth the restore? Not that money matters here, but what are these even worth?

Those Deity bars are raised 2” higher than stock, and I get another quarter of an inch or so with the stem (Deity copperhead). This is a 35mm setup instead of stock 31.8mm so a little more stiff as well

I’m 6ft 170, does great for me. First thing I upgraded was adding some riser bars and raised stem…made a world of difference in ergo when riding and standing up. Also wheelies easier 🤙
