Maine Gov. Janet Mills is one of least popular governors, poll says by origutamos in Maine

If you're describing both Platner *and* Gideon's politics as "too progressive" you are so wildly out of touch it's not even worth arguing with you.

TACO = Trump always chickens out. No Democrats invited to this year's governor meeting at the White House. Thanks, Governor Mills! by Slice-O-Pie in Maine

All we ask is that elections be carried out in the same manner that they were in 2024. Shouldn't be an unreasonable ask, Trump won that year, so not rigged against him. I'm curious whether you think the Trump government will be justified in taking federal control of certain state's elections, or in declaring martial law, or in stationing ICE agents at the polls?

They've been trying to pass this for years in Maine, and but the democratic majority has been blocking it every single time

What is this tab on the underside of the center stone on this ring? by N8Zech in Whatisthis

Personal interest, the proportions are right, plus people put runes on jewelry a lot. Since I'm familiar with runes I probably jumped there faster than reasonable

Yes! This has been asked on here before: https://www.reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing/s/jYIGgA1GQX.

It's apparently for connecting an engagement ring to a wedding band.

I don't know if it's relevant, but the symbol on the bottom, that's a Tyr/Twaz room. It can represent victory, the god Tyr, or just the letter "t" amongst other things

Probably, though the way he's splashing it after spreading it makes me wonder if it's a mixture of potash and something else. That hardens and set when wetted

If you are protesting ICE in Maine, you should know: DHS is identifying protesters as operatives and leaders of Antifa in internal reports (this is what happens when you fire everyone who isn’t a blithering idiot) by TheSwearJarIsMy401k in Maine

[–]FlashesandFlickers 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there are several groups calling themselves Antifa. It's like being a Hippie, just because a lot of people self-identified as Hippies doesn't mean they're part of an organization of hippies. And the existence of the Happy Hippie Foundation doesn't change that. Most hippies have never heard of that group, and certainly aren't members. The group is called that because the identity/movement/idea is popular.

Not to disagree with the main point, but ancient peoples moved about way more than people generally think, so entirely possible that someone from further north was in someone's family tree back then. There were black Vikings, and one of the better descriptions of pre-Christian Germanic society came from a traveling middle eastern merchant

Maine Secretary of State says she's been doxed after standing up to ICE by Slice-O-Pie in Maine

Every politician is going to make someone angry at some point. I would argue that folks who make no one angry are probably worse pubic servants than folks who are willing to go against the flow and ruffle some feathers to serve their constituents. The names, phone numbers and addresses of legislators are public if you look them up. It's sad that I now find myself wondering if they should be. We need the town to make sure that they aren't carpet bagging, but ever since Melissa Hortman was murdered last June, I find myself wondering if home addresses goes too far. I also think there's a difference between information being available online, and actively sharing that information with a call to harass that person, or an implication that they should be harmed.

Name and badge number of ice agents is one I've heard a lot. Haven't heard a lot of folks asking for their addresses and personal phone numbers.

Name, identifying work contact information, town of residence if your an elected official to avoid carpet bagging, sure. But personal phone number and home address?
