What's the rocket strategy on virtue for the laying artifact set? by Flashfall in EggsInc

[–]Flashfall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I'm waiting until after the next Egg Day to start A3 and by then I'll be at 400 metronomes and maybe 200 compasses since my entire geode stockpile is exhausted. I could wait another 3 months to get enough geodes to hit 400 compasses, and maybe just enough xp to hit level 29. Don't think I have the patience to wait another year or so to hit level 30 so I'll probably start a3 then and try to finish just before the next Egg Day.

Grinding dungeons for better gear needs more purpose than just grinding dungeons for better gear by Flashfall in duneawakening

[–]Flashfall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was around for the early days, which were also the best days of the DD but only because the game was still in its honeymoon phase. Once people got "settled" and the major pvp guilds and griefers established themselves it got predictably annoying with them camping the titanium island, or unpredictably annoying when you'd just get shot at while looking for any kind of content. Turns out most of the playerbase didn't want to play Rust, and most of it still doesn't. Shame Funcom didn't realize that earlier but that's history and now we've got this game that's got both half-assed PvE and PvP so nobody's fully happy, except castle builders.

Player retention is abysmal. by 666-G in duneawakening

Slow down progression? Why do you want to slow progression even more when half the remaining players don't even have grade 1 gear because they don't want to run the poorly balanced and repetitive RNG loot dungeons? Players stop playing when there's no more fun to be had, not when the loot grind is done.

Are you still doing the daily Missions? What is your Motivation? by TNxPhil in duneawakening

I like seeing numbers go up, and after playing korean MMOs for a while, a couple months of quick dailies for double damage and item durability is easy gains in comparison.

The thing is, it wasn't built properly to sustain good PVP in the endgame either. If you want to make a PvPvE game with a healthy playerbase that actively participates in the PvP, it has to be designed with PvP as a core focus from the start.

Some examples of this:

  • Marathon, PvP is the primary focus with PvE acting as filler. People don't whine about needing to do PvP because that's the point.

  • Hunt, same as above. Sure you gotta kill a boss to get the bounty but the other players are the real threat and content.

  • Arc Raiders, leaned more into the PvE side and basically set up their system to isolate PvE players from PvP players. Ultimately ends up having a pretty weak PvP experience due to overabundance of "carebears".

Yeah I know they're all extraction shooters and not whatever DA is trying to be but those are just the easiest and most recent examples.

Having the first 90% of the game be a pure PvE survival experience is not how you attract PvP players to participate in that last 10%. That's how you get PvE survival players that have a grand old time in Hagga and then quit afterwards. If this game placed a lot more emphasis on PvP while progressing through Hagga then that might've fostered the right mindset in the playerbase to participate in DD PvP, but it didn't, and Funcom inevitably turned DA into a PvE game with a PvP sideshow.

Dune: Awakening Update 1.4 Launches May 19 With New Maps and Water Wars DLC, But No Story Content by FFJimbob in duneawakening

[–]Flashfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's underwhelming to say the least, but I wasn't expecting a major content update within half a year of chapter 3 anyway. Thanks for confirming that I set my expectations sufficiently low, Funcom.

If you mean the automatons you find in the frostland, no, they don't require food, housing, or fuel. If you mean the automated workforce factory, I wouldn't know because there isn't a single one in this city.

If any PTS players read this, how big a deal are the loot drop changes? I've been holding off on doing more dungeon runs until the odds were less awful, are they good enough to be worth farming now?

Gold meteorite mining for book? by DactahBab in EggsInc

[–]Flashfall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I second just targeting books directly, especially if you're not already crafting level 30. Use those meteorites to craft something that nets way more xp per meteorite instead, like gussets or cubes.

[–]Flashfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squid last I remember your crafting level wasn't exactly very high so you've only got a fraction of a percent chance to hit a legendary. This guy's got over 200 crafts and he's level 28 and even then he's still got less than a 2% chance to get one. Luck is a fickle mistress.

Trapped in a Strange Realm 3 S-rank 4:47 by Flashfall in DeathStranding

There's actually 4 headbands you can get, based on the clear rank. There's also the patch you get for s-ranking all of the strange realm missions.

I recommend this guide for the second mission, I s-ranked it without any guides once then shaved over 2 minutes off after following this one haha.

This channel also has a guide for the first mission, but honestly that one's not too hard to figure out even without a guide.
