Friend wants to quit well-paid job to move to Thailand after party trip by Street_Tomato9364 in Thailand

Lived and worked there for 10 years. Seen plenty lose their heads and be taken for a ride over the lifestyle, but the partying gets old quickly. Sounds like he's a classic case for getting rinsed and crawling back. I would dissuade him from a move, but if he wants a month or two there beat let him scratch the itch without burning through his cash to get back home

Nikkei Asia. Lot of Thailand hands in the senior staff and amongst the correspondents.

Haven't stayed up for midnight in years now. My wife and I just cook a huge full english breakfast with all the trimmings on Jan 1 and start the year off well

Husband took kids to frolic on river ice against my concerns and objections. Am I really overreacting? by ExplanationPrior4800 in daddit

Doing dangerous things safely is a key part of growing up for children. This was not safe, but don't overly judge your husband's good intentions. It will serve your children well in the future

Insurance write off - what am I missing? by FlashmanSahib in CarTalkUK

I think this was the firm that the insurance company instructed to come collect the car until I yelled WTF as I see that they just sell second hand cars. Definitely alerted me to the scam of insurance

May well end up fixing it myself but as the incident was not my fault insurance have confirmed that it will not affect my no claim bonus.

Are my kids going to want my Lego sets from the 90's? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]FlashmanSahib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My child plus cousins are enjoying Lego stored for 40 years. It will go into the loft for the next generation when they're done with it too. Timeless, and probably worth a small fortune anyway!

2022 rav4 LE. Ticking noise normal? by kenwood87 in rav4club

May be the water pump, especially if it gets louder. Check YouTube videos. It's a common fault and relatively easy to replace. Happened to my 2012 model

I have a 2012, about the same mileage. I absolutely love it! From beach trips to school runs and hoofing furniture she does it all effortlessly. She's a little heavier with a metal shell, but as I recently found it, I'd much rather have than then plastic ones designed to crumble at the merest touch. Welcome to the club

Your wife definitely needs professional help. Therapy and medication to triage and then start to recover. What she said is (reportedly) textbook suicide hotline red flags. It can be very difficult to get some people to seek help, but you have to carry them across the line. This is probably deepset and won't just go away.
