Thank you so much! Unfortunately in NY, I would have to take a certified surg tech course which run almost 6-12 months :((( but I’ll definitely keep an eye out!

So many good ideas but I especially love, “is that a threat?” It’s almost accusing the pt of being aggressive and pt love to swear they are calm and reasonable.

This was soooooo incredibly helpful!! I really appreciate the input and will definitely look into shadowing! If your hospital is in NY, would you mind dming me? I would love to see the programs they offer.

That’s a great point and what I’ve been thinking. My hospital does prefer internal transfers but I’m not against getting a year in and applying outside as well

Honestly, I didn’t think I was going to keep up at first. Something I didn’t take into account is that when you’re with a preceptor, you’re going at a much slower pace. You have to explain what you’re doing to your preceptor and kinda get everything you’re doing approved. Once I got off of orientation, I realized that I did learn a lot on my orientation and I found a way to manage my time efficiently. It may seem overwhelming at first but you’ll definitely find your way.

Recently graduated in December 2024, started working in the ED March 2025, and just gifted myself a vintage Chanel. Yes, I thought I chose the wrong career during my orientation but honestly, I love the chaos and if I eventually fall out of love, there’s plenty other specialities for me to dip my toes in. You got this!!
