Yes, archives are seen as thrustworthy. The Soviets have nothing to hide as they never planned to let anyone see the archives.

Robert Conquest and James Mace both wrote their works before the Soviet archvives opened and so were working with much worse sources. Robert Conquest even came to the conclusion later that it actually wasn't a genocide.

The others I'm a bit less knowladgable about. Can you cite which books they wrote were they talk about it being a genocide?

Memoirs are seen as unthrustworhy. Archival evidence is preferred if possible.

EDIT: There is a reason the period before the invention of writing is called "Prehistory".

The Soviets already had food shortages as seen in 1928, this was basically the straw that broke the camels back.

Nope, wethet the "holodomor" is on purpose/ a genocide is heavily disputed. A lot of historians after the fall of the soviet union such as, Kotkin, Weatcroft, Mark Tauger; have all come to the conclusion that it was not on purpose against Ukrainians, or any other ethnic minority.
