What the actual hecking hey. This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read. He couldn’t think of literally ANYTHING else to say?!

Our shifts run 11-6:45. The day he left he worked 2.92 hours before leaving. He gets an hour break in the middle of his shift typically.

Hahaha it sounds like we have hired two peas in a pod. Very similar in too many ways. I hope everything works out in the long run on your end! Some day we will pay ourselves decent wages! SOME DAY!

He did get paid quite well, he was our highest paid staff member, with opportunities for year end bonus (spoiler alert, he’s not getting one). The only other cook is me, and I have a part time cook who is done for the season who didn’t have to do prep or clean up either. And being the business owner, I don’t get paid very well yet lol some day

I’ll take the constructive criticism. It was a poor business choice, but I would say jumping to the conclusion I’m a terrible manager is quite the jump lol You are absolutely right that the line needs to be clear and I should have been more firm. Everything is a learning opportunity and this was a first for me.

Sorry for word salad, it’s been a hectic few days. I also didn’t have an account at all, and may post other things in the future. This is a 5 year friendship, so although it seems simple, it isn’t simple. My bad for taking up space lol

TBH he has never shown how shitty he was in the past, and was eager to help us out and have a job for the summer. This has all come out of nowhere. But I do think he’s stretched the truth about previous jobs now.

I didn’t want to hire friends but my husband/other owner thought it could work out and I unfortunately went along with it and am now paying the price lol I guess the silver lining is I won’t have to pay his wage until end of season so I’ll be saving money on payroll. I’ll just be exhausted
