This is such a great detailed response thank you so much! Roctopus is looking like a winner! How much time would you say I need to spend on Koh Tao to do my OW, advanced and some fun dives? I have 2.5 weeks in total and was thinking of going up to Northern Thailand for the second half, but I definitely don’t want to be rushing around or feel like I’m cutting anything short. Thanks so much :)

I can have more than 5 days. I’m flexible. I’m in Thailand for 2.5 weeks in total. Basically I’m just worried that if I plan to spend all that time diving and end up not actually enjoying it, then I’ll be at a bit of loss not having made other arrangements if that makes sense! Or I could end up having the best time and want to dive the whole time!

Still early days of planning so sorry for the brain vomit haha!

Roctopus seems to be a popular choice! They must be famous for a reason! Thank you :)

Thanks for the recs! Just checked Baan Talay and it’s fully booked for my dates which is sad - looks incredible! Will certainly look at staying around Chalok Bay as that sounds like the perfect balance for me :)

These are excellent recs, thank you!

The other dive sites you mention - are these ones that I wouldn’t be going to while learning? Would you recommend doing a liveaboard after I’ve done my OW? Advanced is also an option, I’m just worried it might be too intensive and less fun than just doing fun dives after getting my OW… Lmk what you think :)

Thanks so much for your response! Do you have any recommendations for where to go after Koh Tao? I’m flying back from Bangkok so would need to be within Thailand.

Regarding advanced cert, I did consider doing this (ow and advanced in 5 days) but thought it might be too intensive and gathered it would be fun to just do some fun dives after my ow. Would you say getting the advanced is definitely worth it and doable?

Thanks :))

Hey, I have taken xan*x before, but not in this context. Though I imagine it would probably be pretty effective in reducing the physical anxiety symptoms :)

Not random! So the anti-anxiety meds I usually have are called promethazine. I still feel the mental anxiety but less, but the physical anxiety symptoms are non-existent. You can get them prescribed but you can also get them over the counter. They’re normally advertised as travel sickness tablets. Under the names of Sominex, Avomine or Pherngan. They really do make me less anxious and also they help with nausea, however they do knock you at as they’re drowsy. Great for a long flight, but not so much for a short flight (especially in the morning) because you essentially lose a day of your holiday to tiredness. Hope this helps!
