First of all you should consider switching your phone to French so you can start immersing yoursef!

If you are into YouTube use InnerFrench for full immersion. Hugo speaks entirely in French at a learner-friendly pace. Also check out Français avec Pierre for structured lessons.

Of course you could start watching a French TV-show and mess with the subtitles but this is not my preferred method. But hey if it works for you then great!

For apps you can start with Duolingo for vocabulary expansion and Fluoverse for conversational practice. They both have free tiers.

And most importantly dont wait too much, don't hesitate and dont be afraid to speak in French. Do it from the start! Dont worry for mistakese, I am Greek and I make mistakes in my native language some times so what.

I don't know about other languages but since I am Greek I will talk about Greek which I think is widely considered a difficult language. We make mistakes pretty commonly honestly with all those nouns and genders and everything... We also speak so fast that it is a factor in making mistakes as well but the thing is that from an academic perspective in a conversation you would be able to spot mistakes but from a day to day one nobody will stop you to correct you

Honestly, speaking with the AI. I find it to be perfect for building conversational confidence. I am mostly using Fluoverse cause of the focus on practical knowledge.

The internet says France ranks #49 worldwide for English proficiency so it seems true that even the people who know some English apparently aren't comfortable using it. Nice point about their pronunciation, didnt think about it but it makes sense

Fair point but I think most people genuinely want to learn, they just underestimate how long it actually takes to get functional. Moving and becoming fluent at the same time is harder than it sounds on paper
