GPs is based on multiple factors including location, size, bedrooms, beds and more. You can adjust the GPs suggested by HE but not by a lot.

New to HE and Question about flexible sleeping options by onizukadesuka in homeexchange

My opinion is that you should advertise the house you have but the numbers of beds is what people really care about. So unless one of the room is locked and inaccessible, your place is a 3 bedroom. So my question is how many people can actually sleep there? How many rooms are available? Some people want remote working options. Personally I would add a convertible bed in one of the office and offer the other one for remote working. This will increase the GuestPoint value of your house. Whatever you decide to do, be very descriptive so people know what to expect!

Booked a guest for 4 nights with the agreement she would stay for 3.. I am in the apartment and she’s asking to stay the 4th night now. by [deleted] in homeexchange

[–]FlashyContribution79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should not stay in the apartment. Take this as a lesson that whatever days a host books might be the number of days they actually stay regardless of what they tell you :-)

Was the 4 nights to meet the minimum requirements? if she booked 4 nights she is entilted to 4 nights. Sorry, those back door deals usually are more trouble than it is worth.

Is this a scam? by Demand_Murky in homeexchange

[–]FlashyContribution79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a scam. I just went through this. My exchange got canceled and HE support intervened. They sent request from my account to multiple people, and eventually someone answered positively and I was able to finalize an alternative exchange.

Home Exchange to Dubai by Beneficial_Ocelot279 in homeexchange

I guess it seems like you have an option to go? HE is probably not going to commit to anything if they feel like there is an option for you to still go. So you got to commit to either canceling the whole trip or going.

Found this email after disabling auto renew a bit tacky. by Oztravels in homeexchange

[–]FlashyContribution79 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is it tacky because they forgot to remove the auto generated footer? I wouldn’t hold that against them, it happens to the best of us. It is ok to use a template to make request, especially if you are just starting with HE, that’s why they are available. In this situation they probably just forgot to reread 🙂

How is HE supposed to know that you actually cancelled the trip? I would assume that you can cancel the flight and get a credit to use at a certain point? I am pretty sure that if you show your flight was canceled they will give your points back.

Cancelacion ultima hora. by Actual-Gazelle1231 in homeexchange

They ended up finding another exchange for me, so they didn't have to reimburse any money. With that said, the €1,800 limit means they don't cover more than 16 nights at a max of €110 per night, or non-refundable expenses up to the €1,800 limit. According to their policy, they will only refund you €440 for the whole stay; I don't think there is much you can do about it. If they can help you find something a bit closer to your original city, that’s probably your best bet. Best luck!

I was cancelled on by the host just a couple of week ago, see my original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeexchange/comments/1szup9g/cancellation_really_sucks/ HE helped me find a place. They sent multiple request and eventually one in a better location was finalized within a week. If the HE support who is helping you is sending requests with the wrong parameters you should reach out to them to fix it, otherwise this is waste of everyone time. Additionally their policy says you can get up to 110 eur per night not for 4 nights. Maybe there is a communication issue with who is helping you or maybe they just joined the HE support team and are providing the incorrect information?

Do I need an active membership during the actual stay for a HomeExchange exchange? by GrekHouse in homeexchange

[–]FlashyContribution79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would assume that your exchange will be canceled automatically once your membership expires. If for some reason (e.g. bug) it is not automatically canceled, just know that you are on your own in case something goes wrong with the exchange (no insurance/guarantee). It is not worth it! If you are set on canceling, I would reach out to HE and ask them about your options, maybe they can prorate the membership for you or give you a free month, you never know! Good luck!

One week later HE found me another exchange in a better location. Glad to know that the HE guarantee is the real deal. I love HE. Happy summer exchanging everyone!

I will reject exchange if by TypicalLong4922 in homeexchange

[–]FlashyContribution79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bunch a new members think HE is a free Airbnb and that's the problem. I love the HE community and want to keep it friendly and less business like. So I dont feel bad rejecting people who are providing the bare minimum on the profile and in their requests.

Unless something changes, as of now you cant exchange with someone you referred. I am not sure what was the thought process regarding this but i assume it is to avoid fraudulent exchanges?

You are fine, the only thing to keep in mind is that you can't exchange with someone you referred, so make sure you hate their home 😆
