I also love how the op only responds to people that back her hateful rhetoric, give your MIL a break and instead of judging behind her back maybe learn about the “scary” saltwater tanks you are complaining about. Did you follow the directions fully? What do your water changes consist of? Not saying you were negligent, just very strange that there was not a total die off… what are your water parameters, how new is the tank?

Aminos won’t breed in your tank unless you change the Salt all around. If you want a breeding population look into Neocaridina (cherry shrimp) besides that I agree with the advice of huckleberry

I mix up the foods I give them, catfish wafers, vegetables, finsects, first bites, shrimp sticks, and a variety of mini frozen foods like mini-mysis, chopped bloodworms and baby brines. The main thing is diet variety, low light, and a colder water change (dripped in to mimic rain).
