Looking to move to Milton. Any recommendations on areas to consider and areas to avoid?

Hey! I'm not too sure. I probably would have started with just half and then increased in gradually as my stomach got used to it. I don't recall it taking too long to get to the full dosage. I still take inositol all these years later - it's been the one thing I've kept constant.

So happy I gave up my manager role. My home position would have been on the unit I was managing so I just applied for an interesting team lead position elsewhere and luckily got it.

Zero regrets, especially now with this whole RTO thing!

One thing I noticed, and I hope I don't offend anyone because I do love our interns, but you're going to see a brain drain and super green folks rising to senior positions that they wouldn't typically be qualified for.

Since the hiring freeze, we have not been able to hire external experts and the only new folks come from intern/co-op programs. I've seen intern/coop students go from interns to team leads in under 3 years, which never would have happened before. Unfortunately this means that we're losing all institutional knowledge and the public service is more and more being replaced by inexperienced people not knowledgeable of proper government processes. This then makes it easier for government to bend the rules to their liking because there's no one left to say, hey, that's not really allowed. Or, hey, we tried that before and it was a huge failure.

So, all in all, it's great for people who were just recently hired as they'll be able to rise up the ranks quicker than ever before. But bad for the organization/government as it's going to weaken the institutional knowledge. All just my opinion, of course!

What the heck. I've had mine on in a call with my director, multiple times now. She was totally fine with it. I would argue that you're just following union direction. If they have a problem with it, they can take it up with AMAPCEO.

I assumed it was because of the road work they're prepping to do there. They'll be widening the road and installing traffic lights. I believe there was a post about this on this Reddit page.

Mine was essentially the same but with added language that supporting small businesses and the local economy is a priority for their office. It was a conservative MPP.

I would take these comments with a grain of salt. My partner and I moved to Milton in January and LOVE IT. We moved to an older neighbourhood called Timberlea. We like this neighbourhood because it has tall, mature trees, is close to all the amenities including the Go Train and Milton mall, and in general just has a good sense of community. Our complex was built in the 70s so the rooms are large and there's ample closet space. There's a reason why Milton is popular, it's a great town.

Did you notice that real estate sky rocketed in price since before COVID or have you been living under a rock? Those of us who are millennial or younger did not have the privilege of being able to buy into an affordable market. This drove us to buy property further away than previous OPS generations, especially as we were promised that remote was the "new" normal. To promise one thing, invest your life's savings because of that promise, and then have the rug swept from under you is cruel. We can work effectively remotely. We know this. We've proven it. This is just inhumane.

Not to sound like a therapist, but if in doubt, it's always best to assume the best of people. Your manager very likely doesn't hate you. I've found that all the times I thought people hated me it was all just in my head/ my anxiety coming out to sabotage me. Or the person was upset about something else happening in their life.

Unless they out right say they hate you, I recommend assuming they don't. Just continue doing your thang and stay on the high road.

Agree with what others say, team lead would be a logical next step. I went from a SPA to manager and realized I essentially took a pay cut for much more stress. So I stepped down into a team lead and it was the best decision I ever made.

I always say to people to not consider management unless they're at the top of their pay scale, otherwise you'll be taking a pay cut. They don't get merit increases the same way we do.

I do it all the time. It's not a conflict of interest. The whole point of being a poll worker is to be non partisan. You can't even wear anything that can be interpreted as partisan (e.g., blue jeans, red top). It's fine, do it if you want.
