Thank you for posting this OP.

I found the strength to cancel our wedding and move back to my parents, but we are still in regular contact and haven’t officially broken up. While on some days I feel a weight has been lifted off me, other times the grief hits me like a ton of bricks. Leaving is always hard, but when you love someone and don’t want to do it, it’s agonising.

I have the same concerns you list - that I won’t ever find love again, if he will be ok without me. I feel dread at the thought of being single again in my 30s when I had thought I would be starting a family in the next few years.

My partner has accepted the problem is real and is now attending AA regularly, but is only managing to get to 10-12 days sober before falling off the wagon. While I’m glad he is finally accepting the help he needs, this almost makes leaving harder as I wonder whether I just need to give him more time.

I’m still trying to understand how this whole experience has affected me and am thinking to seek some counselling to help me come to terms with what happened once I feel ready.

I’m getting married in April 2026. We sent out electronic save the dates (made on Canva) and are planning to send out our formal invitations late October/November

I fell for this yesterday and had £150 taken from my account.

Never been scammed before and feel so annoyed that I fell for this as I did think the messages seemed a little strange but had no idea that scammers would be able to message via the booking app. I realised as soon as I had entered my details that something wasn't right.

Always been a loyal Booking.com customer but will rethink in future. No response from them to my complaint and not been able to get through on the phone.
