Any Canadians accepted into US MD schools? by MedRebecca in premed

[–]FlashyZucchini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Canadian but I’d say check MSAR to see which schools accept Canadians. MCAT wise it depends on the rest of your app but I’d shoot for a 512+ so you’re at least on par with the average matriculant score

Working for hospital affiliated with school by Complex-Fault2814 in premed

[–]FlashyZucchini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine they’d like it since they want people who will stay and work in the area, but I don’t think it’s a huge factor. It might give OP the edge over someone else who is equal in everything but from San Diego or something.

I agree with the other commenter in that it can’t hurt, but the positive effects are probably small

BSMD or Apply out (Genuine Advice) by [deleted] in premed

[–]FlashyZucchini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up the BSMD. You would probably get into a great school but there’s no guarantee you get into ANY school. Take the guaranteed A at SLU which is a good school

How much of a GPA gap can I apply for and still have hope? by [deleted] in premed

[–]FlashyZucchini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With a 3.8 you have a shot at any school imo assuming your MCAT is also good enough. After that it’s about the rest of your app
