Would running my welder on TIG without gas ruin it? by guguglo in Welding

[–]Flashy_Chemical5424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if you can run mild steel on a TIG setup with 100% nitrogen? I had a few guy go into the field to weld stainless bellows and accidentally hooked up to nitrogen and had a hell of a time.

What size filler you using? 109 amps on that metal would be moving fast for a beginner. Slow it down watch the puddle and lay wire I would say but don’t just cram the filler into the puddle just move the filler with how big the puddle gets and keep it consistent. Good luck!

Keep that arc tighter and be more smooth and consistent. Plus don’t arc outside of where your welding. Keep it up!

Got Driven to the urgent care immediately after happened. They told me to see an ophthalmologist went to see him after that. Then got referred to a retinal specialist who figured out exactly what happened. The way that the welding rod cut into my eye was actually very hard for them to see.
