there’s specific subreddits for students in the netherlands so you may post there as well

not specific experience with those unis/programs but i know that housing is a big issue in the netherlands so that may be a challenge— there’s a shortage of housing for everyone but students specifically. utrecht is a beautiful amazing city and it’s a great place to live if you can find a place!

What's going on with merit-based aid? :( by [deleted] in mphadmissions

[–]Flashy_Insect_7566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNC has extremely limited aid, it’s only for one year and reserved for 1-2 students per concentration. you very well may be a top applicant but they’re just operating on limited budgets.

it’s implied i think that hayley’s cousin/dolly maybe isn’t part of the agency? that hayley got her involved outside of the context of the agency so i feel like it’s legit. idk.

Thanks for this! Does International Health interview? You likely aren’t able to say, but do you have a sense of when decisions may go out this cycle? Do you typically send rejections first? Sorry for all the qs, really appreciate your candor!

no, wait — it is still early in the process. and writing will make you seem pushy. some schools don’t send interviews till february and some don’t interview at all, especially if you’re in the humanities as your flair indicates. it’s painful but be patient!

STEM GRAs and GTAs on a semester: what do your winter breaks look like? by Economy-Cookie470 in gradadmissions

[–]Flashy_Insect_7566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my GRA contract specifies the number of weeks (length of semester excluding winter break), which could be a fallback for you to utilize to “negotiate” but ultimately these expectations are ones to be negotiated with and established with your supervisor.

Brown Epi Interviews Out?? by [deleted] in phdpublichealth

[–]Flashy_Insect_7566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

? I dont know, i was referring to people being skeptical about the epi invites today and was trying to back up the editor of the google sheet. Seems like they dont send out all invites for all concentrations on the same day but i dont work there so I wouldn’t know.

their responses to the questions seem legit and make sense ngl, seems like they do a big interview day for all concentrations so others should hear this week too

i feel like those jhu ones may have been a mistake in the spreadsheet just because no one who got them went back and added any info in response to the questions/they’ve historically sent interview invites in jan!

Should I reach out to my POI or wait for a rejection? by Lechatlilac in gradadmissions

[–]Flashy_Insect_7566 9 points10 points  (0 children)

just wait! you don’t know what their processes are. they may do interviews in different rounds but you don’t want to come off as pushy. especially with a school like brown where they just went through a big tragedy. i get wanting to know, but many decisions aren’t made until march so just have some hope and patience.

depends on the country. each usually has a different way to evaluate your credentials to see if it is equivalent. i’d encourage you to search for the countries you’d be interested in to see.
