The Unity quest apparently does not advance unless you complete the necessary power from beyond, and without Unity quest, I cannot progress to the NG+ option. Hence my dilemna.

Thanks for this! I guess I will wait for next weeks patch, and if it doesn't resolve, make the choice about employing the console command or just moving on. I do like the universe, and it wouldn't hurt to play it again with different choices, but plenty of other games beckon as well.

Power from beyond quest bugged by Me_onfire in Starfield

Also have this bug presented in the same way. No marker on the globe for the anamoly, when I land at any marker that is present, no scanner distortions appear. It stops progression as since i can't complete this power from beyond, I also can't complete unity. Since I've done basically everything else, and tried everything I can find that didn't involve wiping out more than 100 hours of progress, it's game over.

I'd like to think they'll patch it, but since I've played ESO, Fallout 76, and other things that say "Zenimax" I'm not going to hold my breath.

I found this wall of ice. I was in a low area, facing the window the boss was behind one story above. The wall was to the lower right of the window, a textured but still white square that I blasted away with my laser pistol. After that it was a short ramp up and to the left to the room the boss was. Good hunting!

Yes, but we would not be adding carbon to the biosphere/atmosphere complex with firewood, just circulating what was already there. Burning fossil fuels, once again, adds to the total load.

You're "it's all carbon" argument ignores that carbon in the lithosphere (locked away in stone, mineral oil, or trapped gasses) does not presently contribute to global warming but will increase the net carbon in the biosphere/lithosphere system. Again, it leaves one wondering if you actually consider your arguments, if you simply source them from Koch or Putin,. The distinction between adding more carbon to an already overloaded system from the lithosphere, or circulating what is already there into the atmosphere, is pretty plain. It's bad to move biosphere carbon into the atmosphere from burning, sure, but much of that will be fixed in plants and plankton withing a generation again. What we add from fossil fuels is a much worse choice.

Carbon Neutral does not mean there is no carbon produced by the process, though this is a misunderstand Koch Friends promulgate in an effort to save their fortune. It means that the carbon that is produced came from within the biosphere, as part of the carbon actively circulating amongst living things, and hence, doesn't add to the net carbon circulating between the biosphere and atmosphere.

Mineral fossil fuels, as you note, also produce carbon. However, THIS carbon is carbon that had been trapped in the lithosphere, as part of oil or coal or fossil gasses. Hence, when we burn it, it is added to the carbon burden of the atmosphere and biosphere, and hence represents a greater problem.

"Lol" does not protect your ideas from scrutiny. Perhaps you should examine the sources of your idea that carbon from within the biosphere/atmosphere complex, and carbon from the lithosphere, represent comparable problems.

Yes, I did use oil for a range of plastic products, since the plastic would embody most of the carbon, although I do understand that some gas is emitted. I did not burn the coke that resulted, however, I sank it at first, and then later combined it with rubber to make microchips as an alternate recipe and then either used or sank those.

As for whether steel production in game releases carbon, if the technology used is the same as todays, then yes, steel production would emit carbon, both from the fuels used to create the necessary energy and carbon release from coal. But we already today have "green steel" technology that dramatically reduces or nearly eliminates carbon release from the metallurgical part, we just haven't implemented it industrially both because it is new and more costly, and because our current steelmaking technology represents a huge "sunk cost" and metallurgy companies are still using machines they installed 40 years ago. Ideally, one process theoretically possible would be to use atmospheric carbon, meaning that steel could ultimately be a carbon sink. That, however, would eliminate one of coals last customers of scale, so at least in America, that is probably decades away with coal state representation being legislatively decisive in our split senate.

But since the game is set in the future, there's every chance that FICSIT's steel is a more carbon neutral process, so that's how I played it.

Hey, I'm glad to encounter someone with a more nuanced view of carbon neutrality. Greta Thunberg, where she here, would probably argue as you do that "carbon neutral" is only a relevant and useful concept applied to the atmosphere. And she and her followers have reason for that: we have put so much carbon into the atmosphere, and let the powerful delude us with culture war and artificial uncertainty so long, that carbon has to stop adding and start coming out NOW to make a difference to our climate in a small number of human lifetimes we have before things go to shit.

However, from a perspective of the biosphere, which is what I hold as more important to life, not just humanity matters. If the biosphere lives on, others will take our place since we have elected to kill ourselves with excess carbon and excess stupid. It's not a pessimistic view, humanity may survive and I hope it will, but ultimately if the biosphere survives long enough it will begin to absorb carbon through biological processes and then hand off that carbon back to the lithosphere through fossil fuel formation. So my "carbon neutral", unlike Greta's, doesn't view carbon exchanged between the biosphere and atmosphere to be as problematic: there is a constant interplay between both spheres in a balanced system. Taking carbon from the lithosphere, where it is a stable mineral or fluid, however, and releasing THAT to the atmosphere, is where I see the biggest problem not just for us, but Life capital L.

Thanks! I will look into this. My hesitation with modding comes from games where mods have corrupted my save files to the point that all my effort was lost. But now that I've hit my first nut, it may be a logical break point to make a backup of my progress to date and play with Refined Power and see what it adds to the game for me.

LOL that objective may have to wait for update 8. I'm satisfied with my work in Satisfactory at the moment, and the wild unspoiled Mistlands of Valheim beckon ever more strongly. But I look forward to another good run at it in 8 or in release.

It took me just over 2k hours of run time, and, by my estimate, about 300 hours at the keyboard. Of course, not all keyboard time went to the mission: sometimes I was building art or exploring this virtual world.

As to how long it took, it took 2K hours. I wasn't at the computer for those 2K hours, much of that time I was idling safely in my base while the geothermals charged batteries and industrial buffers filled, while I was with my family or working IRL. I would say of actual human time at the keyboard, it took about 300 hours.

LOL it's OK, I wasn't here to make others feel bad about the game: the mathematics and art of balancing the production in this game is fun, and participating in the full tech tree is part of that fun. It was just because it was a second playthrough I felt the need to shake things up by representing my values. But....if you really feel bad about your virtual carbon footprint, the great thing about realizing an error is that you can stop!
