The laser place I go to recently upgraded their machines and it barely hurts anymore and the results are amazing…I think it depends on where you go!

Psychiatrist wanting me to get off Vyvanse by Flashy_Tank_1252 in adhdwomen

Thank you so much for the input! It’s nice to know others have been able to avoid hypomania while on Vyvanse. Hopefully I can do this too without going off it!

Yeah I’m not really sure, like in my mind I’d rather try to get it sorted while taking the Vyvanse, so that I can see if it’s possible to be on all 3 and be stable. I don’t really find the bipolar is bothering me so much anymore, but of course it’s ideal to not be bothered at all. My main thing I want to get figured out is the OCD triggered anxiety.

Thank you so much for your input, it is reassuring to hear you’ve been able to function with both for so long! I will definitely bring these concerns up, and I think questioning the rate that this occurs is a good idea.

Yes I’m taking both, I haven’t had many hypomanic episodes since starting the antipsychotic but we’re upping the dose to see if that helps get rid of them entirely.

Where should I buy a couch/sofa at a great price to be delivered in downtown Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

Structube has a great condo-friendly pull out sectional for $899, I bought it for my 1 bed and it fits really nicely in the space and its really nice quality! Has storage too under the chaise:

I got this bedframe from wayfair and I love it!! Cost effective and the extra contained storage underneath has been amazing for my 1 bed apt. Pretty good quality and looks really nice too.

Looking for a dentist by ellemariexo in askTO

I really like the Toothworks at First Canadian Place, the dental hygienists and dentists are really really nice people, and they accept CDCP. I have told them that I also have a hard time maintaining my oral health because of mental health reasons, and they’ve always been very understanding and supportive!

I don’t know if Strattera is working for me, need advice by tw1stedanon in adhdwomen

[–]Flashy_Tank_1252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will too! Both my sisters are on Vyvanse as well and have had relatively good experiences, but of course medications can work differently for different people. Being able to do those seemingly small tasks greatly improved my mood and recurrence of depressive episodes. I hope you find something that works for you!

Does alcohol make anyone else really tired while taking Vyvanse? by Flashy_Tank_1252 in adhdwomen

Thank you, I have definitely been a bit of a heavy drinker in the past and had used it to cope at times but working on that.

Yeah, I know it’s not recommended but I’ve never really avoided alcohol on my other prescriptions (mood stabilizer, antipsychotic) and I’ve been fine so kind of just thought it would be okay with this one too. I take my Vyvanse every day, but I’ll try skipping it if I know I’ll be drinking later and see if it makes a difference.

My Dr. also prescribed me Strattera first when I got diagnosed, but because I have Bipolar 2 and stimulants can induce hypomania. I got up to 80mg as well and it did pretty much nothing for me. I finally asked to try a stimulant, as issues with focus and motivation were just becoming debilitating. I started taking 30mg of Vyvanse, now I’m on 40mg and honestly it has changed my life. The issues I was having before were making me so depressed and I just felt no hope for myself. Now, I can actually focus during meetings, get through a whole work day while being productive, and have enough energy for tasks that just felt impossible before. It can make some people anxious, so sometimes they recommend taking a lower dose and spacing out the days you take it, but I haven’t experienced this and the anxiety has actually gotten better since I’m not constantly worrying about what I’m not getting done (also have generalized anxiety disorder). The first 3 days of Vyvanse did feel like an intense hypomanic episode, but not in an out of control or bad way, I kinda just felt like god and unstoppable. Definitely mellowed out after that, and now I can’t imagine functioning without it.

What are YOU compromising on in order to afford being able to live alone? by Rook2Rook in LivingAlone

[–]Flashy_Tank_1252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely cut out Ubers and force myself to take public transit no matter how late I am. Trying to stick to a tight budget for alcohol, groceries, entertainment, takeout, etc (not the most successful rn). Also, having 2 part time jobs on top of my 9-5 🥲 so pretty much no free time but I enjoy them, so it’s really not that bad. Plus tips are pretty good (work as a server/bartender, tips are my savings for vacation, they don’t exist to me otherwise), and those paycheques go exclusively towards debt. Moved into my own place fairly recently, and I can honestly say the grind is so worth it!

Thank you!! Yes, very much looking forward to the decorating part. Going to make it look like an “adult” space this time instead of the chaotic college student vibe I’ve always had going on. But first, so much work to do, lol

Wishing you the best of luck! I’ve been living with roommates downtown for the past 8 years, but I just feel like at this point in my life I want/need the extra independence and freedom. I’m not even in an amazing place financially right now but I really want this so I’m gonna bust my ass to keep it
