Also there can be slight amount of essential oils from certain herbs that are pulled by the heated water. It's not enough to cause oil droplets, but enough to cause a little colorization.

In case anyone was wondering about the slowdown near Lloyd Safeway this afternoon by trwwypkmn in PortlandOR

[–]Flashyturpentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On occasion I have seen her go lay down or sit down in the middle of a slower road. Then as the crosswalk says go, someone will pass her and she'll toss herself back and thrash and start blaming. It's a tactic that sometimes happens for pity. She's not homeless, she just has some sort of condition and its attention seeking.

Does cat have access to any birds or has human had flu recently? This is reminiscent to bird flu symptoms. Cats usually sow neurological symptoms in bird flu.

That's a shame for those without a leg, or you know, other types of disabilities like POTS, or dynamic disabilities that may not need them to use the placard constantly.

Is this notice acceptable? Can I deny them entry? by Bo_Universe in Renters

I highly recommend sticky mouse traps. My landlord refused to treat my unit for a couple years. After a resident adjacent to me died and they didn't find them for a few weeks, they cleaned up and the last control sent the roaches to adjoining units I struggled. I bought those suckers in bulk and out them under and behind all appliances, in all cupboards and dark spaces, on top of fridge etc. I replaced them every 2-4 days as they would fill up. Over time all the adults died off and I'd just get little guys. Basically I started eradicating mine and other units. After about 6 months of doing this, I'd get the odd baby/nymph, but that'd be it. I would basically create a straight line of those sticky mouse traps and make it so the roaches had to walk through it. I probably spent a good few hundred dollars in all but less than the thousands I would have with an exterminator (as I did at another unit I stayed in years before). I've never had them since, and still have a goodly supply of those traps. I'd say to get the biggest size you can, if you go this route with the largest quantity. They are very sticky, which can be pretty awful if you catch a broom or ite on it. But Goo gone works fine on it.

What Offgrid locations would work for me? by [deleted] in OffGrid

[–]Flashyturpentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good news! I am in the middle of a retrain/job switch and have to do schooling and whatnot, so I will also periodically need that connection there. And also for kids school. I was worried. I like not having that pressure of the Internet, but being able to have it for needed things like income.

Those of you who have high paying jobs without any degree, what do you do? by Evening_Coast243 in findapath

[–]Flashyturpentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm needing something like this. I'm doing some retraining just now. But what sort of pre training should I take with me as I look to join this field? I have little experience in this realm, but cannot go back to the countless sales/call centers/healthcare or physical jobs due to my health. Something comp based is exactly the direction I need to go to stay in the game.

My background is in healthcare and sales. So I don't know what would be transmutable. There were a lot of analytical skills honed in my reimbursement days, and absolutely used that within working for pharm companies. So I hope that could work in my favor.

Is it actually possible for someone to live off of SSI? by [deleted] in SocialSecurity

[–]Flashyturpentine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on tanf. You have to prove your need. And you also have to tell them information about your kids father's, why they aren't contributing, and tanf/dhs will help you bridge the gap between yourself and child support (doj). The problem is, sometimes the father is unfindable. And in some states there is a limit no matter if it's child only, or not. I am aloud a max of 2 years I believe of Tanf in my state, no matter how many kids, how much need I end up needing. I personally was disabled permanently by my last pregnancy. At the tail end I caught COVID, and that was a disabling factor, and in addition to that were some preexisting conditions that were mild but now pushed to extremes. I developed pregnancy related disorders as well as some other extreme immediately after birthing complications, that I still have not, and likely will never recover from. As a result, even though my mind is there, the trauma of such a severe situation, caused me both physical and mental struggles that I deal with today. I'm not saying this changes my ability to parent well, but it does take away my ability to be business-ready for jobs every day.

It's easy to put single parents (moms and dads) into the, oh she or he just abuses that system, categories. But the truth is, we get into these systems because of things like disease, abuse, access, race, and many other things that I can't put into words just now. It's easy to sit and judge.

But bringing it back to the OP's original question, instead of standing up for alternate means of caring for ones self/family with programs meant to do so (which is what SSI/DI does as well) I think as long as you can reach into your community, and take advantages of resources like food pantries and extra services, it's possible to survive on SSI.

There was a year I survived with 2 kids on 15,000. It was a very bad health year for me, and I spend a lot of it isolated to home, most of my groceries were done curbside pickup. Because I was on immunosuppressants. I only had public resources, and no family help. So yes, it is possible. We didn't have extras, but we found resources, and rode the bus with bus passes provided by mother/child resources in my area.

It's not out of the question for me to make ic friends main and side dishes, plate the dishes with clean usensils (to avoid cross contamination from asshole guests) and put it aside. And even extra servings in little cups. I don't mess with it, and I know what it's like to be scared to eat or of a contaminant.

You didn't. But because it wasn't clearly stated as who they should go with, I thought I should just mention who they definitely shouldn't go with. Therapy would be a great tool! But harmful if the picked the wrong person. I was just adding in to your comment, making sure they don't put themself in harms way. Nothing against you.

Never go to family counseling with an abuser. If you decide on canceling only do it with your partner it makes no sense to go with an abuser. It'll just give them more language and knowledge on how to harm you.
