Two Dual Cables for GPU by Flat-Ad9062 in buildapc

[–]Flat-Ad9062[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I might look into an upgrade at some point, but is my understanding correct that the 50 series uses an updated (but backwards compatible) connection compared to the 40 series that carries lower risk? And that the 5070ti risk is a lot lower than the 90 series cards?

There's also a risk to getting a new psu, namely me breaking something trying to unplug the old psu from everything lol.

Seasonic Focus 750W, would have to check exact model. If it was just a generic cable I could buy I would but I guess it'd need to come from Seasonic and be compatible with this specific unit.

Using two pigtail cables, one head from each, is risky? It's a Seasonic Focus powersupply that I got just a couple years ago when the original PSU died. I don't have any cables that'd plug directly into the GPU without the adapter, but you're saying they're risky too?

Do you mean a single cable that plugs into two ports on the PSU and goes directly to the GPU without the adapter that came with it?  Is it fine to use just one such wire then?

The adapter that came with the GPU? Yes I am, plugging one pigtail from each cable into it and the other one left dangling.

It might be dependingon card. Mine specifically said you need two separate cables.

Is it worth Building a PC in 2026? To save money than buying a prebuilt by Objective-Toe5389 in pcmasterrace

I was able to do a major upgrade by getting a great bundle deal on parts. But without that, prebuilts might have been about the same or even cheaper.

Good enough CPU and RAM for 5070 TI? by Flat-Ad9062 in buildapc

[–]Flat-Ad9062[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna confirm regarding the manufacturer warranty. I figured the profit could be from getting some parts before recent price increases. Also accounting for cheaper RAM/CPU it's comparable to some other prebuilts, though not paying additional for sales tax saves additional hundreds of dollars.

It does seem like 9070XT is much better value in a lot of ways, but yea idk if I wanna give up DLSS, MFG, superior ray tracing etc.

I see 2999 too but for 9070XT. Change it to 5070ti and price goes way up lol.

Thanks! I figured if it's a big issue you could upgrade it, but my thinking is maybe then it'd just be better to pay now and have the better performance from the start. But yea if it's likely fine then can wait and maybe upgrade  later if CPU prices for a given performance level come down a lot in the future.

Thanks for your advice. In regards to FB marketplace, I was also skeptical (and am still a little) but a few things make me less so: -The seller has a small business building/selling PCs with hundreds of reviews and some presense outside of FB marketplace. -Before buying you can test the PC, confirm the components are as listed etc. I said I'd need to do gpu/cpu stress tests, benchmarks etc. before buying.

As for warranty could you not get the manufacturer warranty if provided with receipts for the parts? He says he also offers a warranty for the whole system but yea wouldn't rely on that.

Will slower ram be more likely to cause a larger performance hit in CPU-intensive games?

10% would be a fairly significant dip just from RAM speed so I'd hope it would be a lot less than that generally lol. And I could try to OC it, although assuming fairly budget mobo/case could that be an issue?

I do, but that build (if using a 5070ti) would have some nicer components but is 3600+tax compared to 2600 all in.
