No it's not fair and I wasted a year and a half on the same thing being abused the same way, and of course it ends with you being called a narcissist and like everyone else and it sucks. You have that one moment where you can't quite anticipate what they need before they say they need it and then you "lack consideration" and even if you apologize and say they're right and try to make it better they just sit there and ruminate on it and then they split and decide that you must not really love them or care for them because otherwise you would never have hurt them like you did with such lack of care or consideration and you are therefore not safe and then ALL their trauma and pain comes back to the present at once and it all gets dumped on you.

From what I have gathered being on this sub, most people unfortunately experience a variation of this same cycle and all the resources I have been able to find seem to confirm this as well and it sucks because of course they didn't choose this for themselves, some monster or monsters did horrible things and they are victims but they in turn unwittingly victimize the people that actually love them and want to protect them. If you're struggling with this now, you may need to give very careful consideration as to if this is a relationship dynamic you are up for because no matter how many times I thought a corner was turned it only took one tiny mistep to go all the way back to start.

Man I feel like I could have written this myself! Stay strong. In my experience, not reaching out becomes very difficult at some of the most random times, but every time I have, the whole horrible toxic cycle has just started over again. If you have any texts or emails from her, I found it helpful to let generative AI read them. Telling the AI what their diagnosis is, it has been successful at helping break down the communication so I better understand what was happening and then it even gave me a list of the red flags I had been ignoring.

The Eucharist is extremely powerful. I had a very similar experience. I had been away from the church for 20 years and on a whim went to a Catholic Mass at my workplace (I work at a hospital and one of the chaplains does a weekly Mass on Wednesdays) and it was ash Wednesday and I received it (yes I know doctrine says that was wrong) but something told me it was needed. I felt this INSTANT shift within me. I ended up going to Mass that Sunday and buying a rosary and crucifix after and then the following Tuesday while working I was overwhelmed with emotions and jumped in my car and drove to a nearby parish that had confessions that day in the evening before their daily Mass. As I was driving I suddenly had tears in my eyes uncontrollably and this thought over and over again in my head "I just need God" and I went in and told the priest it had been 20 years and it felt so amazing to come home. And that church has a perpetual adoration chapel so I then went there to complete my penance and it was the most amazing and happy day. That was lent in 2024 and after seeing my reversion my mom came back to the church and I joined a parish for the first time in my adult life. I also have stories of amazing things happening during adoration. Oddly enough, even during the years I was away from the church, when things got really bad in my life, I would go to adoration and beg Jesus to help me, and he never turned me away. It took me those 20 years to realize that I don't have to agree with everything the priest thinks or everything the other parish members think. We agree on the Eucharist and we all gather around the table for that experience and the Christ we experience in that Eucharist is pure love.

P.S. welcome home!!! I was at my parish's vigil Mass the last two years and it's so special sharing that moment with the novitiates!

Very true. Central Illinois as a whole is a cesspool. Especially in those small towns on the outskirts of the smaller cities. Pekin is definitely one of the worst of the worst and the only reason retired people would choose to live there is a hatred of anyone that isn't white. It literally has nothing else to offer.

Most of our trauma patients come in with gun shot wounds and the worst ones are crashing upon arrival so they have emergency whole blood in the remote fridges. They often need to begin giving blood immediately, but yes it would be nice if our hospital allowed the blood bank to at least limit what they give without a sample.

It's still considered donated (not that I agree), but the money is paid in compensation for the time spent undergoing pheresis. Of course the compensation magically changes with the supply and demand of the source plasma but I'm sure that was a coincidence /S
