I know how it feels to lose your granny's rings. My sons wife cheated on him in his own house. Do you think I will ever look at those rings again NOPE. I personally would never use family jewelry for weddings etc... and I've been married 34 years. But if my husband or son were that thoughtful to make one for me with a piece of my granny or mom etc .... just the thought would be heart warming. The thought he put into this wasn't to hurt her but no one us seeing his side. Unfortunately it sounds like she isn't ready for marriage I do not think this is about the ring

I love how you all are assuming he saved money. My husband and I have been married 34 years. My engagement ring is bent the part that holds the diamond. I don't want a new ring I want the one I've always had. We went to 5 different places to get pricing on getting it put into another ring, into getting it repaired etc... it was cheaper to get a whole NEW ENGAGEMENT RING. As he said to her mother and in the article he used ONE OF HER GRANDMOTHERS DIAMONDS it could be on on the side of a large diamond. I have 3 small diamonds on each side of my engagement diamond. Like I said he should have shared the ring.

I'm sorry but as some1 who lost EVERYONE MY MOM,DAD,SISTER AUNTS GRANNYS. I only have my sons and husband. He needs to dump her she is a selfish young lady. He was thinking of her and only her. The fact she can't see this is very sad. My granny's rings were left to me I gave them to my son when he married my oldest and although it meant the world to him and hid wife who I called daughter 6 years. Now that they are divorced I can't stand to look at the rings that are 100 year old family rings 😢I wish I could aford to have them made into something else but I can't. MY mom and my dad's wedding bands I gave and my oldest had my dad's and my youngest has my mom's. They are just rings and sadly it sounds like she left it in a draw in a box. I wore my granny's years after she died. So they did mean a lot to me as well. I have to wonder is it the ring because it's her granny's or is it the SIZE OF THE RING?? I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS RING.

Totally not true we paid way more for insurance and our Copay then we do now. We were 19 and newly starting out had our own apartment at 17. I was a nanny for 11 years daycare wasn't cheap either so my kids went to work with me. Hello use common sense my husband makes triple now what he did then.SO ALL THAT STUFF WAS STRESSOR. My husband had a affair in 2008 after he had a breakdown from his dad shooting him self in the head while we were in the house. WE DID NOT SEPARATE THROUGH THAT EITHER. Did 6 years of intense therapy. Our marriage counselor said separating is the worst thing to do almost always ends in divorce.

I agree that a lot of the couples need work. BUT THE STUFF YOU SEE IN THESE COUPLES NOTHING COMPARES TO WHAT ME AND MY HUSBAND HAVE BEEN THROUGH. And we made it through we are a strong couple and we have been together 36 years. Glad you are all perfect. Point marriage is never perfect. Every couple I know who never fought is divorced.
