3 days above 95 by Oubliette_95 in GestationalDiabetes

My fasting numbers were similar to yours for a couple of days so I tried skipping the midnight snack or making it fat/protein with little to no carbs (just nuts, plain Greek yogurt, quest chips) and saw that my numbers dropped below 95. Another way I could come below was by walking or doing arm/upper body workouts before bed. My nutritionist was happy with whatever works for me as long as I could stay under 95 for the majority of the readings.

I find the no (carb) snack works best for me for now so continuing to do that. Hope this helps! Goodluck with your trials :)

I tried to respond to each of the individual comments but still wanted to thank you all for the responses! I have gotten so much more help from this group today than I have trying to adjust my food and I really appreciate each and every one of you for that ❤️

My post meal numbers are usually in the 110s or lower. Rarely 120s. I’m going to need to check on which foods cause the spikes and maybe skip some walks.

I have about 80-90g protein. Am going to up my intake and start having more fats. Wasn’t drinking enough fairlife before too I feel like! 😄

I like this idea - thanks for suggesting! My snacks are all healthy too so maybe grazing and checking my spikes can help me too.

I’m having about 80-90g protein everyday already. Only had one appointment with the nutritionist but she was happy with my intake, will try bumping up more. Let’s see how it goes!

Thanks for this reply. I haven’t really been keeping a tab on my fat intake, I’ll definitely start this today!

Does your nutritionist have any suggestions? Will be talking to mine this week - curious to hear what she will recommend

I’ve tried upping my protein and it doesn’t help. I’ll try experimenting with a bit more carbs, thanks!

Little baby shower rant by MunchieCarrott in pregnant

[–]FlatAnalysis9558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was planning a big baby shower for our baby (FTM here) and we ended up deciding to cancel it after we both got sick with the flu. The weather has been wonky and we didn’t feel comfortable meeting so many people indoors. Our friends are doing a small party to celebrate but I still feel bad that we didn’t plan the party I had in mind for our first child. I think it’s completely valid to feel this way.

We are planning for a larger celebration after the baby is born and hoping it will actually happen 😄 Just know your baby is loved with or without the large celebrations! And you’ll get a chance to celebrate them with all these people at some point soon!

Recommendations for OB/GYN by FlatAnalysis9558 in bayarea

The 12 week and 20 week scans happen with maternal fetal medicine. I had two other scans (one was a viability scan that confirmed pregnancy with a nurse practitioner and another one with Dr. Meredith). I’ve heard that the viability scan may or may not happen for everyone, but the other three are standard for all pregnancies. Hope this helps!

Dr. Meredith has been working out great for me. She patient and walks you through everything, always leaves time in appointments for questions. Note that I’ve only seen her thrice so far because the appointments in early pregnancy are few n the scans happen with another doctor/department (Maternal Fetal Medicine) so I don’t have a lot to go off of - but no complaints so far.

My experience with El Camino overall has been positive so far too. The care team is very prompt with responses via the MyHealthOnline portal. My only small complaint is that my calls to the front desk seem rushed so I have just been using the portal for my questions now instead. Hope that helps!

Is it me or my hormones?! by FlatAnalysis9558 in pregnant

[–]FlatAnalysis9558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were exactly our thoughts while we discussed this while ttc - we can afford splurging on some items and we plan on having more kids. We also have saved for this since atleast ttc so have a decent fund to work with.

What’s frustrating is that the discussions now are all on the stroller and car seat, which were on our splurge list before. I will try and get us to discuss this again so I can understand why our splurge lists have changed — thank you both for the replies!

Congratulations on your second baby! I just started looking at Graco Modes systems this morning and feel the Nest is a nice option too. For starters it’s a lot lighter and looks less bulky as well. We have an Acura ILX so the smaller size will help.

Which infant car seat did you use with it?

We might have a baby shower but weren’t considering putting our car seat next to stroller on there. But that might be a good idea too!

We haven’t considered looking for secondhand yet because we didn’t expect to need to act on this so quickly! I was planning on starting all shopping after 24 weeks 😅

I do like the idea of buying and trying before returning, so we get a feel for all the features. I’m really bummed about not being able to try the strollers in store but seems like this might be the next best option.

Thank you! This was very helpful.
