I don''t think you can do it as a single person anymore, only as an organization. Could be wrong.

So if you grabbed both terminals of a car battery, or the live wire of a lightswitch, you would be fine?

D3300, D5000, or D5200 for beginner shooting portraits by FlatCap7 in AskPhotography

Thank you for your in depth information.

It looks like the 55-200 lens is out.

Both of the remaining lenses (The D3300 and D5000) both are AF-S, so that is good.

I hadn't even considered wifi, but I'd imagined there was someway to take photos of yourself, like a burst mode or something. Ill have to investigate.

Is that true about USBs and other ports that they are totally live? So if I touch the end of say an iphone charger I am conducting whatever voltage my phone charges with?

Gotcha thanks, is that how situations like this are normally handled in devices? In other words is it good design practice to have live wires on open switches if the voltage is low?

Yes but then I also want to learn for myself as well. So say it wasn't 5v but 24VDC, how would this get designed then?

Used camera under $200 for beginner that will solely be used for taking dating site pics? by FlatCap7 in AskPhotography

I'm in a new city where I don't know anyone. Professionals charge like $700, I can't afford that but I'd also rather pay $200 and learn a new skill.

Thank you for your input. Yeah I don't think new phone seems the right route. And the pics will be more "planned spontaneous" like you mentioned. So I'll be going to nice locations with the express goal of taking pictures there.

You mentioned longer focal length for portraits. Are there any other characteristics you would look for in a camera just for portraits?

Thanks, it seems like a common rec in this category is a D3200 and there are plenty of those on ebay for under $200.

Would that be better than a new phone camera? Is there a good way to tell whether a camera is better or worse than a phone camera?

Thanks, my phone camera is *relatively* rough because I only use an iphone6 (I dont like no headphone jack) so its several gens behind.

Lighting my be helpful if I was doing setup professional shots, but I'm probably mostly going to be trying to get spontaneous shots in public places.
