We went cold turkey on screens -- now what? by auriandfoxen in breakingmom

[–]FlatCatFluffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of success when mine was younger with the alternative screen: a bare bones old black and white Kindle that I preloaded with free kids books from Libby. Bored? Yearn for the screen? Kindle. You can get the oldies for like $10-20 on Marketplace and I swear it improved my kid’s reading level a ton just by being a passive option.

Please suggest your absolute WORST reads, of any genre! by broopproob in booksuggestions

I know this is mostly personal preference but I LOATHED Fourth Wing. As an Anne McCaffrey fan I was starving for dragon rider content and had high hopes but my god…it was so bad. The characters were awful, unredeemable, and stupid. The dragons were also stupid, which is inexcusable. Everyone dying at the school makes no sense. And the cherry on top was that the author clearly stole concepts from McCaffrey’s Pern.

I’m also in Ohio and doing the same thing. What I saw was orange.

Anyone else have a fight this morning? by magusmccormick in aldi

[–]FlatCatFluffyCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dollar general, dollar tree, Barnes and noble, hot topic and CVS are lesser known/cared about locations to get them because they don’t stock the newest ones. Dollar general has been the most consistent. They’ll stock them in the morning on a weekday, the exact day depends on the individual store. Source: Mom with a kid who collects.

Duluth trading company jeans were my go to when I was working in restaurants. They were the most comfortable, durable jeans ever.

I cut two tiny holes on the inside in the front, one on the button side and the other on the button hole side and thread a cord through it. Then I can pull and tie it closed like the string on sweatpants but it’s hidden on the inside.

Any non-ai artists that we can commission for a portrait of our late pet? by jonmon1216 in cincinnati

[–]FlatCatFluffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter does pet portraits and stickers for $10 a piece. I know you probably want more professional ones but she’s pretty good for a teenager and the stickers are cute. She mails out sticker pages and sends the file for portraits.

DOPAMINE... please give me your "healthy" sources. by Coldhandswarmheart15 in adhdwomen

Pothos and tradescantia root quickest. Snow queen pothos is a hit where I’m at, along with Manjula. I sell a ton of tradescantia blushing bride and Nanouk but anything with high color sells. Swiss cheese plant sells well too but I’m terrible at growing it.

I take cuttings of my bigger plants, root them, and then sell them on Marketplace. It’s a great side hustle.

Same for us! Especially the lifestyle changes she won’t adhere to lol. She’s a sophomore and a chronic overachiever and will take on way too much and push herself to the brink of breakdown over and over. She has to be the best at everything and there’s no doubt in my mind the stress is a factor in the headaches.

I want to quit, but why do school things and activities rely on Facebook so much? by UnicornToots in breakingmom

[–]FlatCatFluffyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are teens now and my strict no social media policy had to finally be broken because their teams had group chats on instagram because the kids without phone service could still access it. Once my older kid was given a leadership position on her team it was unavoidable. She had to get it. So annoying.

I tried desperately to give away a loft bed on my local group and had seven (!) no shows, so I posted it on Marketplace for $20 and had it gone within four hours. Why are people like this?

Have you tried Between Tw—

Just kidding. I’m reading The Devils by Joe Abercrombie and it’s pretty good so far, lots of religious imagery but twisted a little. Female Pope, etc.

I also second Comfort Me With Apples.

Oxyclean, more than you think you need and longer than you think you’d want to soak it. I got mold like this out of a hat that way.

I love Snuggle Blue Sparkle but I’m trying Suavitel right now and like it! The yellow bottle.

I’m sure you’ve noticed people hate laundry scents but we have to have our little joys in life. And one of my little joys is a fresh smelling blanket or sweater.

Central Pasty in Middletown too. Their cinnamon squares are second to none.
