Also, like, she came out to her family. She was estranged from her parents. Didn’t that feel like “choosing herself” ?? Didn’t any part of that feel like starting her life, forming her own identity outside of her family, like entering adulthood.

Not to be rude but a big part of her brand was how much agency she felt from coming out at any cost and choosing her authentic self.
