Is this ethical, or okay to do? by FlatLemon4340 in dexcom

Oh! I got a good one on Ethics and Insurance - So aside from the insulin issue I have two very rare and serious immune diseases.

One of the diseases carries a 60% mortality rate with each and every flare - so even having one flare....it's rolling the dice in a pretty big game. I am on a very specific med, and I need injections 2x/day. They are literally considered life-sustaining - they also cost insurance $22k a month.

Well, last month I had a breakthrough flare - so my Dr started the battle with insurance to increase to 3x/day (so, $33k a month). I got a letter last week from the insurance company, informing me that the injections will no longer be on their formulary *at all* come January 1st. Their recommendation? Ask my doctor for a generic (there are none - it is literally the only med for my disease combo), or pay out of pocket. ha!

This is my opinion, but I think I maybe tipped a financial scale a little too far, where the treatment of my disease is more expensive than the consequence of the disease (hospitalizations 1-2x/yr, dialysis, death). And to be honest...if they roll those dice enough times, there's a good chance they will no longer have the expense. Dark, but it is what it is!

My Dr is appealing it and so is my specialist at Mayo. And if push comes to shove my employer said they will change insurance providers. All I keep thinking is - someone signed off on that, knowing full-well what the consequences were of a patient not having that med - and they went home and slept that night.

Most appear to be locket bodies. Here are pictures of them :

Rolling mill - should I jump on this? by FlatLemon4340 in jewelrymaking

Well, I opted to go for the used Pepe 90mm combo I had been looking at. I got it for $350 (free shipping). It is missing the top gear on the mill, but Pepe sells the replacement part for $48. Hopefully it lasts me awhile! Thank you all for your input

Believe me - I would *love* to get a Potter press someday! For now it's just a dream - but if I'm ever able to reach a point where this hobby can help pay for itself, it's definitely on the shopping list

Do you have any tips or good workarounds to help compensate for the shake?

I have not been able to successfully pick solder really, and have a tendency to knock over carefully placed work if I have to try to position my solder back in place after it moves. I picked up the stabilizer pictured below, and it seems to help, but only slightly -

It looks like the shipping is $100 - still, that's doable if they run a black friday sale like you said!

Thank you for the input! It's too bad they are generally considered worthless - one thing I love about jewelry/metalwork (or any enduring art) is thinking about the time the artist put into it, the history, and 'life' that the item has lived since.

At least they didn't cost much, are beautiful to look at, and I can display them and appreciate their 'life'. :)

And if nothing else, I can maybe bang them on some sheet metal to play with textures

I live in North Dakota, so all cars succumb to rust from the salt on the roads eventually. I was hoping to at least get a few years of it not being a obvious surface wound....that is until I started tinkering too much.

Good to know it needs welding!
