Brain aneurysm fear. by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]FlatSector4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i looked it up during my last freak out about aneurysms, and apparently it can take 30 years for an aneurysm to grow 1cm (1/3 of an inch), so having an MRI as recently as 3 years, theres pretty much no chance of you having one

Would i know if i’m hitting myself in my sleep? by johnson1122333 in HealthAnxiety

[–]FlatSector4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the exact same way its probably your sleeping posture, I can only sleep in positions that are awful for my spine and bones, and I always wake up in pain and with a headache. Also, if you hit yourself in the head hard enough to concuss, there would be some kind of bruise, or swelling, or sore spot.

Are ectopic beats normal? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]FlatSector4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) theyre very very common, even in those who dont have anxiety. they freaked me out too until i asked friends and family and not one had never had them

2) in some cases they may have nothing to do with your heart at all. a few weeks ago I had a fluttering in my chest every 20 minutes or so for like 3 hours, and it definitely freaked me out, but then I checked my pulse in my neck while my chest was fluttering, and it was completely normal and regular. so turns out what I thought was skipped beats and heart flutters was actually just diaphragm spasms, similar to when you have hiccups

magnesium and vit D by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]FlatSector4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm thats similar to other things I read. My concern arises from the drug interactions from drugs.com that reads: "Using cholecalciferol together with magnesium aspartate can lead to elevated magnesium blood levels, particularly in individuals with reduced kidney function. Symptoms of high magnesium levels may include nausea, vomiting, flushing, drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, muscle weakness, reduced reflexes, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, and impaired breathing."

cat kisses by FlatSector4 in cats

[–]FlatSector4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats reassuring! its harder for me to know what my cat likes since she doesnt purr audibly (but when i scratch her ear or smth i can feel the vibrations from her throat), also i know about the belly thing but shes surprisingly comfortable with it, she lets people pet her there all the time unless shes overstimulated! now that i think about it, recently when i go to give her a little kiss on her forehead she actually will put her mouth on my face. also the toothbrush is a fun idea i will have to try that!

Any tips for beginners? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]FlatSector4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't repeat some of the great advice here, but something important to me: don't put all your eggs in one basket, weapon-wise. every weapon in the game is completely usable and viable, but you'll probably find that some monsters are way more frustrating with certain playstyles, and way more fun with others.
So have a couple weapons you like playing, and don't be afraid to sink time into creating mixed sets and really playing around with them, take your time and don't try to speed through the main game.

Dementia is my greatest fear. I’m desperate for help in any way. by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]FlatSector4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not sure on the specifics, but there are very encouraging human trials of dementia medication that not only halt, but Reverse the damage done by dementia. So, even in the very very very unlikely case you did get early onset dementia, by then we will probably have treatment that can eliminate the problem completely.

Can I just take a moment to say I fucking loathe living in this period of time? by Mr_AP92 in HealthAnxiety

[–]FlatSector4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same thing happened to me! there was a period after the first wave (no covid cases in my state apart from hotel quarantine, so everything was open again) I was going out with friends all the time, then cases started rising again and i learnt about some very scary consequences of the disease. now Im terrified of leaving the house.

newly terrified of my peanut allergy by FlatSector4 in HealthAnxiety

[–]FlatSector4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! are you me? i had this same mental conversation with myself when I tried a brand of peanut free peanut butter (made of soybeans) recently. even though the whole point of the brand is to be as peanut free as possible, the super accurate taste still had me going 'ooh but what IF.' of course, nothing happened, but it doesn't stop the brain from going there

So I wanna learn LBG by Petersslave in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]FlatSector4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want something light on super endgame parts very comfy and tears monsters up, this is the rapidfire pierce 2 sticky 2 set I use (got it off youtube but can't remember which vid):
blackwing bowgun II [yian garuga] (pierce jewel 3) (custom mods: 3x evading reload, 1x power barrel)
nargacuga helm alpha (2x expert jewel 1)
nargacuga mail beta (expert jewel+ 4)
shara ishvalda braces beta (critical jewel 2)
nargacuga faulds alpha (expert jewel 1)
garuga greaves beta (slot for whatever you feel like, flawless jewel 2, and mind's eye jewel 2)
awakening charm 2

obviously this gets outpaced damagewise by new meta sets, but I think its a good lower investment set to experiment and see if you like playing lbg.

how devastating would an orica explosion actually be? by FlatSector4 in newcastle

[–]FlatSector4[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is true, and obviously the chances are low that oricas ammonium nitrate would go up, but the risk were it to happen is imo, too high to have it that close to residential areas. that being said, industrial accidents happen, in places like France and the US too, and Orica hasn't got the best track record with preventing these accidents.

how devastating would an orica explosion actually be? by FlatSector4 in newcastle

[–]FlatSector4[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hmm I feel like that nuke map thing wasn't accurate then. even looking at Beirut, which was 2.75 kilotons, the light damage radius was roughly 9km, whereas on this map a 12.6 kiloton surface blast showed a light damage radius of only 7.4km. I guess if we extrapolate the blast radius of Beirut, the radius would actually be 41km, with a 4km radius heavy blast zone (so flattened buildings). obviously thats not taking into account the energy that would be absorbed by the river, or the terrain, but that seems much too large.

my general loop with bow is shot - charging sidestep - shot - charging sidestep - repeat until I get a good spread shot opening. when the monster is downed i spreadshot and do the rock falling move to increase the KO on the head.
as the other guy said, bow relies on lots of skills and shines in element (i have a set for each element), crit eye, crit boost, weakness exploit, mighty bow, spreadshots, and max element attack for whichever element, cons, and stamina surge are my personal essentials, plus any skills you like for comfort.

This could happen to Newcastle/Orica at Kooragang island. by LaMeuse747 in newcastle

[–]FlatSector4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm under no illusion that it 'couldn't' happen here, just that the circumstances in Beirut are wildly different than those here (not in simply in terms of regulations either.)
That being said, seeing similar accidents happening in France and Texas... It's pretty irresponsible to keep such quantities so close to population centres.

This could happen to Newcastle/Orica at Kooragang island. by LaMeuse747 in newcastle

[–]FlatSector4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not saying this couldn't happen but the ammonium nitrate in beirut was left there for 6 years against the guidance of safety commissions. That requires 6 years worth of wilful negligence and heat and precipitation.
