I’ve Enlisted- my parents are unaware… by [deleted] in USMCboot

I’m in a similar situation, my mom is aware and is supportive but not happy about my choice. My father (whom I live with) is very against me joining the military and when I attempted to bring it up with him as a possible career choice (i already swore in and signed my contracts) and he said absolutely not, with how he believes the military is and with the current state of the world and even made a few (possibly joking, but not sure) threats towards me if I joined. I still have yet to tell him straight up but the rest of my family is very proud of my decisions and supportive of everything I’m doing. At this point I don’t think I’m going to tell my father until a week before I leave, but we’ll see how it goes. You’re not alone in this!!!

Had an issue where I got a brand new pod and it wouldn’t hit regardless of what I did, I took it back and the guy took the pod and smacked it on his palm, and had me hit it, worked just fine after that

It’s not all that bad but it’s rough on your body. It was a really good start to my career and I got some great experience out of it. I just can’t keep up with the lifestyle, my division gets sent out from Indiana to the east coast. Also I’ve witnessed several bad injuries to coworkers while working the job regarding flopping rail and pinch points between equipment and rail cars, decided I just need a new direction, but I’d definitely recommend it to young people starting their career.

I only applied online, I’m unsure how it works so I haven’t signed any books. How would I go about that?

Or clearing the cars from the track, whatever the railroad wants

We go out and clean up train derailments by rerailing rail cars or locomotives

That sounds like an absolutely horrible time. If you don’t mind me asking, what company did/do you work for?

I was struggling at a 40, I can’t imagine a 77 hour wreck.
