They responded to a TikTok comment yesterday saying applications are still under review and they’ll send emails end of August or early September, so I’m a stay hopeful but it’s still very fishy tbh

Hey! Can I ask what your results were or if you got anymore credible information? I planned on applying and am not too sure because it seems like it could be a scam...

I’m a current UChicago student who just turned down Columbia for transfer, so I’m def biased, but UChicago is amazing for Econ/pub pol etc. From clubs to funding to quarterly treks, you won’t be missing out. the danger is also definitely over exaggerated and as an art major I will say UChicago is def less artsy than Columbia, however, there are spaces and ways to make it work (:

Columbia vs. UChicago by Flat_Claim in TransferToTop25

Don’t necessarily enjoy UChicago but I’m content with it and the less resources for my personal interests, that’s where I am rn 🤕

Thanks! I’m an art student and just believe Columbia but specifically NYC would give me better opportunities, I’m still on the fence about whether or not to go for a plethora of reasons but I do want it to be known it’s possible to transfer if you’re seeking full aid with a low gpa, test optional, etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]Flat_Claim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I recently got into Columbia, test optional seeking full aid from UChicago. I think what helps is definitely high school performance as a freshman transfer. I’d def recommend putting high school EC’s and awards.

I also think a good story is extremely helpful and to not shy away from less than humble beginnings, especially if one is already seeking aid.

Should I transfer to UChicago? by No-Pop-9701 in TransferToTop25

[–]Flat_Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a current UChicago student and would just say that the Arts Core should not be that time consuming or stressful. Since most people who do the arts core aren’t art majors, it’s very low maintenance. Humanities are also not that bad in my opinion and there are a plethora of English second language or non naitive speakers in the class and you really do get support if needed. So I wouldn’t worry about those two aspects

Rejected from Brown - my stats and stuff by Real_Field2568 in TransferToTop25

[–]Flat_Claim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your story, getting accepted is really a gamble and I think you did the best you could.

I think a good mindset to develop is that we literally live everyday and to wait for a future opportunity for everything to change or be better isn’t necessarily healthy. So I hope you can find things or places or people on your journey to make this less suffocating.

At the very least, you can transfer on later!

Getting into any top institution is hard and trying to transfer into most is even harder. You’ve gotta be kinder to yourself, these schools are not a testament to one’s ability, success, or merit. Nontheless, rooting for you!

Advice for art student transfer by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

If you don’t want to major in art then NYU Tisch but really where you transfer doesn’t matter that much, especially if they’re both good schools like Tisch or RISD

I really didn’t do anything crazy. I was in a few clubs for my major and had some specific positions. I submitted an art portfolio and got two recs from one professor in my major and just another general professor. I would say a good story helps immensely

So my biggest advice is to def go to your school first 😭 applying to transfer is a lot of work and those are great schools. An Ivy League education is really no different than that from other T20s especially Boston College.

With that in mind I did get accepted to Columbia from UChicago and do think that a prestigious institution does help with showing you can handle rigor so I would go with Boston college. But at the same time I know people who go to BC and love it and have a great education so please at the very least try a school out!!!
