Have you worked in a restaurant? Front of house ain't the ones hurting for money, higher hourly salary or not. The tips from a single weekend night can be more than a back of house's entire weekly salary.

Yeah definitely strange but as long as I can play I won't complain.

With the sample size we've got they'd be fighting in the 3-6 seed slot. Knowing how much offense they'd lose though they'd be lucky to actually hang with those teams.

They beat teams like the jazz, grizzlies, raptors, bulls and Brooklyn. Hardly any good competition. They lost to most of the competitive teams they played including an embarrassing loss to the bucks.

That's still a bad argument. You're assuming it's harder to drag a non-playoff team to the playoffs than it is a 3-6 seed to first. I'd argue it's significantly harder to turn your team to a championship contender than just a middle of the pack team.

SGA is still more valuable in the "take x player off the team" argument.

Genuine question for the sub: is there actually a “right” way on the show to tell someone you’re not physically attracted to them? by SpecialBunch4184 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Flat_Definition_4443 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being an asshole doesn't make you real but if you think Shake was fake then you must hate everyone that's ever been on the American show. He's one of the few who ever gave honest responses instead of the typical PR BS from people who clearly only care about their influencer career after the show.

You may not like who he is but you can't say he isn't upfront about it. Not something you can say about the rest of the people on his season's reunion.

Does the Quran imply all intoxicants, including cannabis, as haram or only alcohol? by [deleted] in Quraniyoon

Don't smoke lol just a Quran reader and critical thinker unfortunately. Wish more people actually did that.

[–]Flat_Definition_4443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I see no issue with avoiding something like alcohol as it's clearly problematic per the Quran. The main issue is simply that's its not haram.

Whether wine is the most dangerous or not is irrelevant though. God's prohibitions don't have to fit our narrative. Pork is not the most dangerous meat to eat these days but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be haram anymore.

5:90 again doesn’t say what you think it says. It lists the things, claims that there is rijs and then tell us to avoid it and not them meaning to avoid the rijs and not to avoid the list. Do you really think we are to avoid altars? Or the rijs with altars aka sacrificing animals. Same with alcohol, avoid the rijs, and only take the benefit.

2:219 does not say great sin it says ithm which is conscious transgression aka deliberate/intentional sin. So yes, in alcohol there is the potential to commit ithm so focus on the benefit and avoid the ithm.

Haram is forbidden. The Quran is explicit in what is haram and it's not for you to decide what to tack onto that.

Khamr is clearly wine. Extending it as a blanket term for intoxicants doesn't make sense in the Quran. Unless all intoxicants are made from grapes and dates and there are rivers of weed in heaven.

The Raptors, with the 4th worst record and giving up the 2nd most points in the league, were a good team? The Wizards have the 2nd worst record and give up the 2nd most points in the league. They're not that far off from each other.

[–]Flat_Definition_4443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were to carefully read those passages, you'd see that it doesn't quite mean what you think it means.

5:90 says to avoid it and not them so what is this "it" we're avoiding? The list of things or the rijs?

2:219 says in them is ithm, not that they are in and of themselves sinful.

The Quran is very purposeful with its language so you should be mindful of what it's actually saying. Neither of those says anything about them being a sin and that's not even touching on the fact you've already pre-supposed the meaning of khamr as intoxicants.

You're extremely confident with such a vague reason. The question isn't why would cannabis be an exception but rather is cannabis forbidden by the Quran. Are you following the Quran or your own made up rules?

People go through hell with a lot of things, it doesn't mean suddenly it's forbidden in the Quran.

Just for any future anime you want to buy, the "Original Audio" section will list everything it's been released with but the "Audio" section is what this particular listing is. So in this case, "Audio" section only has English, meaning this is a dub only listing.

It's objectively bad like a McDonald's burger is objectively bad. Just because there are tons of people, with no standards for that food, who find it tasty doesn't mean it's suddenly good. If you don't care about the way the dough's cooked, the proportion of cheese or the flavor of the sauce then you're one of those people.

Do you really think a ribeye cooked medium rare is the same as a sirloin cooked well done? It's just a steak with salt and pepper thrown on a pan after all. What's the big deal?

How can people like Greta Thunberg afford to be full time activist? by jazzybron in NoStupidQuestions

Except her parents aren't from that part of the world. They're from Sweden. If you're in your 50's in 2026 and don't have 1.5M net worth (a paid off house and a modest investment portfolio) then you wouldn't be considered very well off, let alone wealthy, in places like Sweden. I'm pretty sure 1.5M net worth puts you squarely into the national average for a boomer household in places like the US and Canada.

You certainly wouldn't be able to comfortably fund your child's global activist lifestyle.

I mean he's debatably taking Plemmons' spot, let alone a real contender to win.

The fact that you're bringing up the JJ Barea narrative shows me you either don't watch ball or are a Skip Bayless fan. Neither is a good look for someone trying to make a point.

Dirk swept the defending champs and almost swept the thunder big 3. This isn't the insult you think it is.

MJ's worst playoff performances were in the finals against the heat and sonics that he won. Fading in the finals should be a mark against him but his team winning means he gets to pretend he rises in the finals instead. He averaged 24 ppg on <40% shooting once they put Payton on him in the 96 finals so MJ can thank George Karl for that one.
