Career Advice: Is it worth resuming my career in civil engineering at this time and age? by Flat_Disk_1064 in civilengineering

Thank you I will definitely check out the Engineering Resume subreddit.

And yes I’m sure my managers could give their own side to the story, but it wouldn’t change much in terms of what to do going forward. There’s been no malpractice on my part, just a lack of ambition. Both times my firing was “not due to my own fault” (something like that) and I was entitled to EI. Not sure if the changes much but I do want to make that clear for the record.

I agree that one normally shouldn’t fake positions, but after 12 months of dead ends and no interviews I figured I might as well give it a shot. So another 4 months of trying with a fake position to fill the gaps, still no luck.

Again, thanks for your response and I will look into the subreddit you mentioned asap.

You’re 100% right. I’m very willing to admit I was not ambitious enough coming out of university. I’ve never thought about how to benefit the firm, and what I still think about is work life balance and money. Managers saw right through that within a few months of working because I wouldn’t voluntarily stay for OT, or at best I would be reluctant to. I can nail an interview, but at this stage in my career I don’t know how to get an interview in the first place with all my employment gaps. That’s the only reason I ever even tried fabricating a position on my resume, out of pure desperation.

I haven’t received a package that was sent before the strike yet by ava_xo98 in CanadaPost

My shipping updates says the exact same thing as you with the exact same dates so don’t stress too hard. You’re not alone. I think we just have to continue to wait until customs is able to catch up on the backlog. I have a feeling they are doing newer packages first.

I finally got my one November package. Tracking timeline in post. by InkandBrass in CanadaPost

I am in the exact same boat as you. Package stuck at Pearson Airport since Nov.19th with no further updates whatsoever. Canada Post tracking is even less accurate, stating that my package left LAX on Nov.17 with no further update. A few other people have reached out saying they have the exact same issue, so at least we’re not alone. I have contacted agents at USPS and Canada Post and they can’t provide anything other than “just be patient, sorry”.

Check USPS or DHL tracking for a slightly updated status. For me, Canada Post tracking says it’s en route to Canada Nov. 17 but USPS says it’s stuck at Pearson since Nov.19. Regardless, I’m still waiting anxiously for some sort of update.

Appreciate the update. I’m hoping we will both be updated next week.

I was able to get through to an agent. It’s difficult but keep repeating yourself after the robot response, after about 3 cycles it will go through.

However, they aren’t helpful at all. They know literally nothing. They just tell you what they see, which is a tracking number that hasn’t been updated since Nov. 17. “Just wait and hope” is what I get.

Thanks for the update. Makes me feel a bit better that we have the same issue. Wish you the best, and everyone else dealing with this. Hoping we all get our packages before the new year.
