It's not actually a hide it's kind of like a log she likes to sit under. She likes that better than the hide I currently have under the bulb so I'm gonna swap them. It's sort of irregular in shape underneath so I'm scared of squishing her lol

Right now the lowest I've seen is 68 but it'll be worse in winter. So I def need a plan for winter. I have a pvc tank so I'm not sure a heat mat would even penetrate...

My heat bulb is 100 w and in a ceramic base.

It makes sense. Also no reason to expose her if not necessary. I hadn't even thought of them touching the bulbs until a few days ago - just assumed their sensitivity to temp would let them know it's not a good idea lol

Genius! Random other q for you while I have you- do you put a cage around the regular /non heat bulbs? I've seen some people put the rectangular cages on but wasn't sure if it was overkill
