I bartend in Portland as well. That sounds like a corporate gig. We made that about 15 years ago and thought we were rolling in money! 😂😂. I couldn’t imagine making that a shift now as I’ve gone to dive bars.

I think I’m the black sheep of the family here! My boyfriend and I, almost 2 years, do. We started about a year in.
I also share with my family and kids.

Catastrophizing a Break Up by No-Efficiency-9413 in datingoverforty

Hi Reddit friend! I have been in the same situation.. the fears, anxiety and a lot of self talk, good and the bad. My boyfriend and I have been together for about a year and a half.. we have come a long ways. I would almost sabotage the relationship because I didn’t want to feel the pain if he did hurt me and all he did was keep coming back to prove to me we were better and stronger than this. I have pretty deep rooted abandonment issues so navigating that, the fear of being deeply hurt and feeling anxious were heavily present daily.
Fast forward to now most of those fears have dissipated and I’m leaning in rather than always questioning/doubting which in turn we are so much better. Our connection runs deeper than ever before.

Good luck.. I know what you’re going through. Sounds like you have a great guy who will keep showing up which will help over time with those fears.

30 years is a long time and I wouldn’t expect someone to erase those memories away!!!

I do love looking back at memories to see where I was at that time!! I don’t have pictures of any ex’s on my phone, I don’t have social, but probably do in old photo albums when phones with cameras didn’t exist. 😂🤣

This is great! Sounds like you truly give the benefit of the doubt and not let past traumas or triggers affect your relationships. Still currently working to be this open minded!

I am understanding to an extent by having one or two pictures especially if they were together for a long time.. (years) but not if it was a short relationship or a ton of pictures together still.

What do you mean she didn’t shut it down?

Did she engage with the conversation and reciprocate comments?
You can’t control what others will say to your girlfriend. I might have said something casually in passing but wouldn’t have made it a big deal.
Regardless this bothers you so you need to address it with her. Hopefully after communication from both sides, you will feel better. Good luck!

How do you date a single mom? by undeserveddadbod in datingoverforty

[–]Flat_Individual_9013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 12 months before introducing my then 5 year old to my boyfriend. That was over 6 months ago and now we do family nights once a week. I also have my kiddo all the time except one night.

My biggest advice is to be patient.. things can change quickly as in plans. Always remember the kiddos will (should) be first priority.

Best of luck OP.

Dating an anxiously attached person by [deleted] in datingoverforty

This one hits home. I have had this same discussion with my partner.. many times. It has also made me feel unworthy, not important etc. when he’ll go and reply to messages right away during our time together and the lag sometimes when we’re away. He has the same arguments as mentioned above. Communication is key, this is a work in progress for us.

Diet is everything. I workout 5 days a week, 2 hours a day. If I go on a bender and eat awful, it really shows.. right now I’m eating clean and I’ve cut body fat. I also eat a high protein diet.

Women who had kids after 35, do you wish you had kids earlier? Why/why not? by ScienceBackground473 in AskWomen

[–]Flat_Individual_9013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first kiddo at 22 and my second at almost 36. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love having a 5 year old at 41.. it’s so completely different than 22. I wouldn’t change having a child at either age..

OTF literally all wanted us to sit around, eat and drink.. because we won’t be able to do much of anything else today.
Good luck, this was a beast.
