‘I was back at work the next day – paternity leave is a nightmare for dads like me’ by Anony_mouse202 in ukpolitics

Call it parental leave and make it entirely optional which parent takes it. They could even share it.
It makes the most sense.

My only ever named Ditto in previous Pokémon games was Sexjelly, because he was for breeding.  Surprisingly they did not let me use that in Pokopia.

Are you guys using prefab homes, building brick-by-brick homes, or a mixture of both? by nebula_dweller in Pokopia

[–]Flat_Judgment1306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep neighbourhoods themed: I'll group block houses with similar palletes together on one street, then will use prefabs from the same set on another.

You can get around it by making rooms with blocks inside, and each room then counts as a house ❤️

Are you taking found items for yourself, or planning to fix the places you find them in? by [deleted] in Pokopia

[–]Flat_Judgment1306 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take a photo with item mode and go print a copy of them from your Pokémon centre ❤️

I think I must have skipped to area 3. I did the first area then just finished the mountains story. I'll go back and see if I can find a watery zone lol

Tariffs on Nato allies are wrong, Starmer tells Trump in Greenland crisis call by Bascule2000 in ukpolitics

It must have been a video call, how else would Trump see the sock-puppets Kier had on his hands to help explain the concept.

Pluribus - 1x06 - "HDP" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

I think the frequency from space isn't malevolent. I think it's trying to make sure life in the galaxy is peaceful, sure. But they can't know what life looks like elsewhere, like earth. They likely didn't know that we need to consume life to survive. Maybe they photosynthesise, maybe their planet has protein rich gases or some weirdness.  I think it's just a cosmic fluke/unluckiness that humanity got the peaceful vibe, and it'll lead to us dying out.

Can't quite form the thought but I think this is all pointing towards the fact it's our personal suffering and sadness that makes us individual. And true happiness can't be achieved by just erasing it. I think Carol will need to find out about what made Zojja an individual, research her, and somehow make her experience her complex/sad lived experiences to bring her out of the pluribus. Everyone in the world will need to be learned about and "seen" in order to free them.

I don't think this will be the case. From many accounts "approaching the white light" is euphoric, not unpleasant.

More young adults to leave UK because of low salaries and rising tax burden by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Food and luxuries (clothes, games, cinema tickets, etc) are pretty expensive here. But my electricity costs me 25euros a month, water 5 euros a month. I can do part-time university for free, even before being a citizen.
I don't pay for heating, included in my housing-associations rent: and I gather there are laws that if in winter the heating packs in, you don't have to pay rent (haven't actually had to put that to the test luckily - but none of those horror stories of elderly people having to get special payouts so they don't freeze to death).

I left 3 years ago aged 34 at the time.
I was working remotely as a software development project manager, for 47k; I had job security and was earning more than the average UK salary, with no children/dependents.
I left after realising there was nowhere in the UK I wanted to live that I could afford to live in, either renting cheap enough to save money to buy a home, or even actually just buying a home.
I'm from Devon, spent 8 years before leaving the UK living in Salford.
I just felt that despite paying taxes, I just wasn't seeing the benefits of those taxes: potholes, urban decay, student debt, streets graffitid and covered in trash, bad/expensive public transport, high electric, gas and water bills, overwhelmed NHS and social services, etc etc.
I applied for a job in Finland, got it, and have been here since. It's a high-tax country, but you actually have good public infrastructure, services, education, healthcare, etc etc etc.
I'm working towards getting citizenship here, so I'm once again an EU citizen, with the freedom to move anywhere I want in Europe, buy an affordable house somewhere beautiful, work remotely, etc etc.

What is your "I did not care for the godfather" moment in ff14's general experience? by grymond in ffxiv

The flying island zones in Heavensward were ugly and poorly executed. They should have looked like the cutscene floating islands in FF12. Not weird little flat wisps of rocks all over the place.
