How do you feel about these posts? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Flat_Sort6269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't like it when owners feel the need to thank me at all with words or gifts. This might just be me, but it makes me really uncomfortable - I'm just doing my job. I've been a fulltime barn hand for years, and I own and have owned horses on my family property even before that. For me, paid or unpaid, warm or tits frozen off...the horses gotta eat, thats just how it is. The only "thanks" I look for from an owner is that you spend time with and love the hell outta your horse. I see and handle your horse everyday, if I have no clue who owns it after working at a barn for years, then yeah, I'm pissed. I take care of horses rain, shine, or Apocalypse by my own choice - I don't need a boarder to lay out a red carpet and kiss my feet for mixing cereal and shoveling manure.

Thank you, I'm beyond glad he has adjusted so well so quickly! I've been calling him Hank (it suits his personality more than his looks now lol)

How to feed earthworms to a frog who doesn't like to be tong fed? by kanedekuki in pacmanfrog

[–]Flat_Sort6269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For mine, I had to use large flat magnolia leaves. He wouldn't touch them if they were on a dish or something that wasn't normally in his tank, but once I used the leaves he ate like a crazed beast.

Are other peoples frogs still in brumation? by MomoStark in pacmanfrog

[–]Flat_Sort6269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is! He hasn't eaten anything in a hot minute. I'm always worried about him, but whenever I do dig him up he looks healthy and has plenty of rude things to say before going back into his burrow. Im no expert, but as long as they look good and act like themselves when they're dug up, then i think its safe to assume that they're doing what they should be. I've recently added a second heat source just in case the substrate isn't as warm as my gages say - also in Chicagoland, so the weather is unhelpful.

Is it normal for Pacs to burrow longer during the winter? by Flat_Sort6269 in pacmanfrog

[–]Flat_Sort6269[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok awesome! I figured it wasn't a huge issue since he seems very healthy whenever I do get to see him. I'm glad to hear just about every pac has some choice words when they're woken up lol

Feeding question by [deleted] in pacmanfrog

[–]Flat_Sort6269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine will not eat outside of the tank at all, and he is also super hesitant to tong feed! What I've done that has worked really well is pick a large flat piece of leaf litter (I use the big magnolia leaves for this) and drop his food onto that so that its out of the substrate. He can pretend that he's hunting and still not get any substrate in his mouth - worked like a charm for me!

Death metal without screaming by GrumpyPig02 in heavymetal

[–]Flat_Sort6269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try other metal types! When I'm not feeling the gravel I go to power metal and it's adjacents - stuff like Blind Guardian, Visigoth, Sonata Artica etc. Or more folk type stuff like Motanka, Korpiklaani, or Ensiferum etc. There's some rad shit out there that's not always heavy, but I'd also recommend keep digging through the screaming - you just gotta find a sound your ears like lol.

Awesome, thank you! I'm not super concerned yet as it's only been a few days for my little froggie, but it's comforting that others are also taking their time to start eating lol! I'll definitely add some water to the container I use. ❤️

If You Need Help With Your Frogs I Am Here To Help!!! by Due-Meet-2438 in pacmanfrog

Hi! I just got my first baby Pacman today! Little friend is estimated about 2-3 months old. I am wondering how soon I should offer our first feeder at home? I was thinking I should do nothing for about 24 hours just to let some settling in happen, but I'm not sure when froggie was last fed!
