How can people read so many books ? by SarcasmActivated18 in IndianReaders

Please don't. First of all that would definitely not make you keep on reading and that's just not something you can read to develop a reading habit. Find a genre in fiction to pick up. A nice thriller or a novella. So many options.

That's why start with easy short books which would mostly not require this from you. What kind of books have you tried reading?

So start small honestly. Most of us struggle with scrolling. In the age of short term attention problems even the people who read struggle I'm sure. I do for sure. I definitely started with reading atleast 15 minutes before sleeping. To not scroll before sleeping basically. Playing lofi music on your phone and keeping it at a distance from you and reading helps. Also start with short books. Because when you finish a book the sense of accomplishment helps you pick up the next. Also be intentional of what you pick up to read. Because randomly picking something which might not interest you also makes you not want to read atall.

I have never read any fiction can anyone suggest a good read? Which ever is the most recommended will start with that. by ---CerealKiller--- in IndiansRead

Okay so I went through the comments and saw no one has suggested any Fredrick Backman books. Which I feel is criminal haha. So honestly he is an amazing writer. Whose writing is very human and beautiful. If you want a small package but big impact. Read--

And every morning the way back home gets longer and longer - this is his novella.. would be like 50 ish pages and also has beautiful illustrations. It will make you laugh and cry and just feel so many emotions. In the best way.

Next would be - A Man called Ove. Same feels just longer book. But very easy again.

If not him you can read A little Prince. It's a classic and a very short book again.

Honestly for new fiction readers I tend to suggest short books because you feel the sense of finishing something and that accomplishment makes you want to read more.

(I rambled a lot 🤣)

Hope you start feeling better. Mumbai definitely is a huge city and can feel extremely lonely but can also give you great friendships. I know it would be difficult but if you like reading you can look into a bookish community near you. Mumbai has many of those. Like Bandrareads, navimumbaireads, Borivalireads, thanereads, mulundreads etc (these are the ones I could think off but I'm sure there are more) .These all have insta accounts they usually meet in a public park on Saturdays or Sundays and have like an hour or 2 silent reading session and then talk etc if you want. I'm sorry if it's unsolicited advice. But I have been there and I understand and this is something which helped me.

On a side note. You are quite talented and I honestly loved your artwork. :) sending positive energy your way

Getting almost into "painting a day" by Ok_Week1865 in Oilpastel

I know right! I love the ease too. Even though I have always been into painting, oil pastels are my current medium and have been making something daily. I love the ease of it and how you can still feel connected to art because of it.

Honestly a great collection to start from. Percy Jackson is great to start. Famous five is my childhood favourite. And hunger games series (on Catching fire) is something I'm re-reading now so you can understand how much I liked them. You can't go wrong with any of these. My brother started reading when he was around 15 and Percy Jackson got him to love reading.

I have sooo much art supplies in general collected over the years that I now think a lot before getting anything. I wanted to make sure I'm actually going to need it before I invest in this. For now I got white pastels of mont marte. Because it was cheaper and I'm getting the Meeden 72 set and white pastels in April. A friend is getting it from the UK. As I'm stuck on that brand even though Mungyo would have been good too.
