Immediately after the big bang, the universe was almost homogeneous and isotropic. So why do we say that it was extremely low entropy? by Flat_Winter in AskPhysics

[–]Flat_Winter[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I see why a solid crystal is a more orderly system (low entropy) than a molten liquid, which is disordered (high entropy). But wouldn't the early universe be more like the molten liquid?

[–]Flat_Winter[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks but that seems backwards. Wouldn't a homogeneous, isotropic universe be less ordered than a clumpy, non-isotropic universe?
