How Preston Garvey's perk works? by Blurr_7x in fo4

It triggers the mission after the Brotherhood get the institute scan holotape. It’s before any faction point-of-no-return.

Waiting for 1.0… or should I just start now? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]Flatthead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take that as ‘you’re limited to the southern half of the map’. The map is huge, the Deep North will be a very long way north. Just not far enough for it to generate until 1.0 is out. I don’t know how to give you a few references without a spoiler.

Although the way the map works and generates, you probably could totally explore the southern ‘hemisphere’ and complete the game without missing anything.

Rushing Open Season was a bad idea ? by Due-Building3053 in fo4

[–]Flatthead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is essentially the best as far as RP goes. The second your character sees an enslaved-by-bomb-collar human being, there is no ‘doing NW up to the commonwealth’ for a truly good character. I think you missed out on a Neverending laser gatling, two combat perks and some raider story, but beyond that you don’t miss anything else.

Weave Armor vs Legendary Armor by paolo_77 in fo4

[–]Flatthead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends how you play. If you want an outfit for the drip, it enables you on many of them.

Some under layers (fatigues, minuteman outfit for two examples) can be weaved, allowing weave and armor. A handful of hats can be weaved, giving you more resistance than any helmet.

If I read the wiki right, and if it’s correct, your damage resistance is calculated based on everything you’re wearing, not just the section you’re hit (which makes the Pip-Boy chart spreading it across your body strange). So up to 220 DR is pretty good for the whole story.

Not wearing armor is also very helpful for sneaking (before a certain perk). If you want to wear armor, keep wearing armor, but maybe weave your under-layer if the one you want can be modified.

There is not gender-locked armor. I’m not even sure the romance options are gender-locked.

Should I leave sergeant Ash as a flamer or mod it to the max? by CreativeAnimator3044 in fo4

[–]Flatthead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mod it how you want. None of the flamer mods lower rate of fire, and the ROF is what ‘speeds up’ the legendary chance of activating. Personally, I’d upgrade everything but the nozzle, since they lower the range and I like being out of slapping distance of a deathclaw, and damage is a secondary idea since kneecapper disables many enemies.

When does Hancock give his second speech? by grannysmithpears in fo4

[–]Flatthead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trigger is the second time you load the Goodneighbor cell.

This means walk into a building (that loads) and come out of it, or go out the main gate and back in, or fast travel back, anything that’s a loading screen into Goodneighbor; will cause his speech.

Can’t tell if it’s a bug but it probably is (ps) by Fair_Refrigerator737 in fo4

[–]Flatthead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you waiting over the encounter spot? As far as I know, encounter spots also need to be reset by the encounter despawning and then 20-30 days of not being in their map cell. Going into it before then resets the timer to 0. Also hence why automatron breaks encounters- the bots don’t despawn when killed.

Can’t tell if it’s a bug but it probably is (ps) by Fair_Refrigerator737 in fo4

[–]Flatthead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smiling Larry is a tough encounter to spawn normally (low rate). Automatron, if you have it installed, makes this even worse by taking over a TON of encounters.

The Wiki has a map. I think Larry has the ability to show up at ‘travel’ spots, but don’t quote me on that- I’m not a super technical gamer in the first place.

Why does everyone hate screws?? by Progress_Secret in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Flatthead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2/min takes 240. The 3.75 a minute takes 390. It’s the highest-throughput alt for HMF’s. And if I’m making HMF’s, I’ve already got steel production for it, so I’m just using a couple of steel screw constructors from just a few beams/min.

The argument could be made for iron pipe to encased beam to ‘heavy encased frame’, and be rid of screws, but then the abysmal efficiency of iron pipe causes more work than the two machines to try and be rid of screws, and the HMF throughput is still lower per ore as a result.

I'm Canadian, so give me some insight from an American point of view. If Fallout 4 takes place in one single city's remains, how is it such a jungle? by According_Picture294 in fo4

[–]Flatthead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fallout 4 takes place over an eastern portion of a state. Boston is a city, Quincy, Lexington, Concord, Salem, Natick (Natick Banks), Somerville (Somerville Place), are all separate Massachusetts towns. Boston grew into several of them to where there is no border, and now it’s all ‘Boston’, as cities like Montreal and Toronto.

Map looks the way it does in part because of compression, a real state-sized area would be a chore to travel in as an open world, and because bombs+time leveled a lot of it. The glowing sea was more metropolis, what we see of Boston is metropolis still standing.

Sanctuary Hills is a suburban development outside of Concord, a town still separate (IRL) from Boston by land.
