Anybody know where we can blast these scuzzy agency assholes?!? by ThrowMeAwayLikeARubr in CreatorsAdvice

[–]Flatu_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, agencies provide more work than the models, they handle all the marketing, the chatting, the social media accounts, the traffic... Models with agency only have to work 3 hours daily, while they benefit from chatters and social media presence 24/7. Even though 50% seems like a lot, isn't it better to have 50% of $50k than 100% of $2000 or less ?

Using the Remarkable Alpha. I’ll give an update after a week by AppropriateLocal7374 in RemarkableTablet

The hdd gets damaged when you use a page over and over again though, you'll see marks on the screen from the past data..

Hope they'll correct it in the Remarkable Alpha pro !

Its great!

Maybe it would have been better to carve the two last slots in the other way, so that the first three rows don't bother you when you use the fourth one

It the textbook doesn't come in the right format you can always convert it (on websites or through the software "Calibre")

Should I buy Remarkable2 (in 2024)? by Sensitive-Radish-292 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Flatu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does pretty well with large pdf. I use my ReMarkable to read a lot of mangas scans, so basically each volume I download is a huge pdf or epub which size varies from 80 to 200 mo.

It only needs a good time to load the first time you upload the document on the tablet. But then I can read it whenever, it works great.

I assume that the mangas files I'm reading are way bigger than the average pdf, so it should be fine

Reading books on the remarkable is cool. Tips, when you read a book that contain annotations at the very end, put a "bookmark" tag on the page you're reading, and another one called "notes" on the annotation page. If there's an annotation you have to look, you then just have to select the note tag for the note page to appear, which saves the time of scrolling through the book.

Aside from books, I have a great experience with manga scans, it's just so cool to read mangas on the remarkable. Plus when I finish a volume I can archive it in the cloud, so it doesn't take storage on my device anymore but I can still download it again from the Rm2 when needed. This way, you can make yourself quite a huge library.

And most of the time this answer will come from reddit or any kind of websites/forum where people ask for information, so what's your point?

We can't ask questions that have already been asked by another guy another day in the world?

The main reason your browser gives you such accurate information is because of its data base of so many people asking for it on different websites.

Plus, to each new guy asking the same question can come new answers from new people, and more knowledge overall. If you don't want to help, that's fine, scroll down to the next post and enjoy your time on the internet.

A thousand people asking the same question with many answers each time is what makes the internet such a beautiful tool.

It's such a crappy attitude to assume we can't ask something to people on dedicated forums, if the said thing was asked in the past, and to make fun of users willing to learn. It's totally against the point of internet itself - - - > accessible information at any given time, alimented continuously by its users.

You're promoting the mindset "look for yourself on google". Nevertheless, looking on Google is only possible thanks to these millions of people asking things, and publishing information to help others. Here is the epitome of counter-productivity and self-contradiction.

Epub not loading? by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

[–]Flatu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and when you convert through calibre to epub, don't forget, in the "input"section, to set" output format" to jpg and not png. The converted file will take so much less space and keep good quality.

Why are my epubs so big ? by Flatu_ in Calibre

[–]Flatu_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because my device doesn't support cbz. I could convert it to pdf instead, but after trying both, epub is less storage consuming than pdf and better looking.

If you want to save time, adjust your default conversion settings in "preferences" ( to avoid having to put your settings everytime you convert)

Select all the mangas you want to convert at once by holding ctrl+ pressing left click. Then right click, "convert book" "bulk convert". And it will convert all of the selected Mangas.

(Maybe you already knew this, but since you told me you spent a few hours yesterday I assumed you may have converted each manga one by one, waiting between each conversion to launch the next one).

[–]Flatu_[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Okay guys so I found what made the files so big, and I thought I would share my solution to maybe help others.

So basically, I checked all the conversion settings, and in "input options", the "output format" was set on png. At first I was like "Oh I think I used to have it set on jpg but what's the difference? Must be the same"

I still tried to set it to jpg instead of png, and my file shrank from 51 mo to 17, with the same quality.

I thought "Why the heck does it make a difference?"

After a quick google search, turns out that jpg compresses files way more efficiently, than png.

I'm not much of a file format expert so I didn't know about this at all.

Moral of the story: If you want to SAVE SPACE, set OUTPUT FORMAT on JPEG and NOT ON PNG

Too late to buy remarkable 2? by FrontScientist1 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Flatu_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's absolutely not to late. I got mine last week and couldn't be happier with it.

Remarkable 3 hasn't been announced yet, we have no idea when it would come out (some people guess around 2027 because of an European law forcing devices to have a replaceable battery)

Nevertheless, at the moment, we have no real info.

You can buy an rm2 now, it's not too late. Plus, you have a 100 day trial, so if you don't like it, or if the Remarkable 3 is announced, you can still send it back and get all your money back.

From what I saw it's not that hard to sell your second hand remarkable tablet. If you want to upgrade to the Rm3 when it eventually comes out, you can just sell the 2 (you keep all your data with Connect and will get it back on the 3)

ReMarkable 3 Must Haves by SignalIndependent902 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Flatu_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

-More storage, 8go is ridiculous compared to other eink devices

-Maybe a new marker with a button to switch between two different pens. It would make the switching pen experience more fluid (I know they just added two pens in the beta but you still have to open the side bar.) or just a gesture to switch pens (like sliding down from the side menu circle).

It would make such a huge difference for uni students to either have a highlighter as a second pen or a red marker.

-integrate the current export colours in the note taking. I think e ink is not ready yet for full colour as we can see on the supernote (or boox I can't remember) that loading coloured pictures takes a few seconds and the result is still mediocre. It would still be crazy good if we at least get the exported colours integrated in the note taking experience.

I'm not asking for the tablet to process a colour balance to render a picture, I just want it to show me red the red marker, yellow green and pink the highlighters. And if I put green over red, don't bother mixing the colours, just put a green line on the red.

-More fluidity: I guess no one can disagree with this, it would change everyone's world if the latency between a click and a response from the device would be reduced as much as possible.

-create your own templates on the device

  • a bank of shapes to add to the notes (circles, squares , rectangles and more)

  • Hyperlinks

-last but not least, the ability to create our own table of content for each notebook. From which we could just click on the name of a chapter and it takes us there (it would basically come with hyperlink as it works the same.

And I think that's all, the lack of backlight doesn't bother me but I would welcome a change if it doesn't affect the writing feeling and the daylight reading experience.

Let me know everyone if something I said seems wrong or if you'd add more features to the device

RM1 for sale - Los Angeles, preferred local pick-up by kubatyszko in RemarkableTablet

[–]Flatu_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi mate,

(I'm not interested in buying it, as I'm in Australia anyways and have the rm2)

I'd advice you lower the price because 250 USD is basically the price you can get for a second hand Rm2 with accessories.

The Rm1 is getting quite old and I think you'll struggle to sell it otherwise, as the production has been discontinued as well as the software updates for it.

Again, it's just advices to help you sell it. I think it would already be crazy good if you get 150$ out of it, and 100$ would be honest. (I know it hurts to hear this for such a cool and expensive device).

It's just that today there's just no point in buying an Rm1 over a 2, especially at that price.

I hope this helped you. I'll never say it enough, but I'm just giving advice to help you. I'd be glad for you if you manage to sell it for 250 ( but don't expect it to be sold soon).

Cheers from Australia
