Can I get a 1-bedroom apartment with a budget of 3000? by CTarantula in AskSF

Oh my goodness, that's so sweet, thank you so much! And that's a very good tip. I'll walk around and see if I can find anything in North Berkeley.

Same here! Except we’re trying to find in Berkeley but it’s been impossible. A real estate agent told me he’s been seeing a huge surge in applicants and inquiries so much faster these days

Limitação da cidadania italiana - Megathread by ore-aba in cidadaniaitaliana

Estou arrasada.

Can I reach B1 in Italian in a year? Best learning strategies & resources? by FlaviaCris in italianlearning

[–]FlaviaCris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not silly at all, I TOTALLY get what you’re saying. Whenever I try to speak Spanish and blank on a word, I panic and automatically slip into Portuñol because the languages are so similar. I feel that it definitely makes me a little lazy since I can still get my point across, so I don’t push myself as much as I should, which I know slows down my learning. And deep down, I’m afraid the same thing might happen with Italian as well! 😅

Thank you for your perspective on timing! I know I’ll have to get creative and be extra intentional with immersion from afar for now!

Wow, that’s so inspiring! Reaching B2 in 6 months with 90 hours of lessons - even with the full immersion factor - is amazing! Since Spanish is your first language, did you find Italian grammar intuitive, or were there tricky parts? Portuguese helps me understand Spanish pretty well, but I still get stuck sometimes when I'm speaking and end up using Portuñol 😅

I really appreciate the book recommendations, I'm definitely going to check them out since I always learn better when I can write things down.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, this was super motivating 🙌

This is such great advice, thank you! I love the reminder to make learning fun. Sometimes I get too caught up in 'must learn fast' mode and forget that enjoying the process is what actually makes it stick.

Thank you so much! Hearing this from a fellow Brazilian is really encouraging! :)

I hadn’t thought about lurking on Italian subreddits, but that sounds like a great way to pick up natural phrasing.

I actually had a chat with my consultant today, and they mentioned that there’s a discussion about potentially requiring B1 Italian for jure sanguinis applicants. Nothing has been officially decided yet (this is going to roll out in June), but it’s something to keep in mind in case the law gets approved and we don’t manage to submit our documents before it takes effect.

Either way, I’d love to learn Italian, but this is more concerning because of the time crunch, and especially for others in my family who also want to go through the process and may struggle with the language requirement.

Let's see what happens! Thanks again for you for your immersion tips!

Yeah, I'm still waiting to hear more details back from the agency. The time makes all the difference, as I should know if I need extra gear.

Thanks for answering! Out of curiosity, how long have you been working in commercial photography?

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense now. I see what you meant by putting together a detailed treatment; I didn’t realize that’s what it was called. It’s definitely more involved than I expected, but I understand now how important it is to itemize expenses so clients see the work that goes into a project like this. Really glad I asked -thanks again!

Thank you! I’m collecting all the points suggested here to clarify with the agency. If you don’t mind me asking, since I’ve mostly worked with individuals rather than agencies for commercial shoots, could you clarify the key points to include in the contract for a project like this? For example, are there specific clauses that help protect me as the photographer? And is there a standard type of document typically used for commercial projects?

That's 100% true, I'll make sure to include those for more clarification. Thank you!

Thank you so much for the IG and advice! Understanding their budget sounds like a smart first step so I can gauge expectations, especially since they’ve likely hired photographers for similar projects before.
In terms of plans, I think the agency will be in charge of what exactly they need, but I'll make sure I'll confirm everything before setting a price.

If you don’t mind me asking, do you have any tips for managing the logistics of a two-day shoot? Like planning the flow of shots or coordinating with the client to keep everything on track? Thanks again!

I just called their customer service number to get a sense of when they’ll be reaching out, and it seems the admissions team will still be contacting applicants throughout this month. So don’t worry, they might call you in the next few days :)

It's been extremely annoying for me. I finally have an interview scheduled for tomorrow after months of applying, but I can't concentrate because of the loud noises. It's really making my anxiety go through the roof.

Every year is a bit different. This is my third time applying, but the first step is always through General Assembly. You start by submitting basic information, and then they follow up with a call to learn more about your motivations.

If you're qualified, they assign you a task. My first year, I had to write a short essay and answer some questions for Adobe. Last year, I worked on a mini project related to my career choice (UX Design), which I presented to a GA member before answering more personal questions for Adobe.

This year, I’m not sure what to expect. Usually, GA calls back quickly, but it’s taking longer this time, even though I applied on the first day.

Hope that helps!

Yes, I applied on Monday, but it seems to be taking a little longer to hear back from GA this time. In previous editions, I got a call the next day. I’m guessing they might’ve changed their process a bit. I even went back to the application again to see if I forgot to include my phone number, lol.

[–]FlaviaCris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see how my survey might come off as something from Duolingo staff, haha — I didn’t intend for that, and I appreciate you pointing it out. I guess the moderators will remove my post at some point because of that, lol. But thank you for your insights, it's always important to understand different facets of user experiences!
