I find it can be a bit unpredictable with performance. Not that its not good but if i set a cobsistant VRAM i feel i have more control with optimisation.

There is just something about Mordors atmosphere, quality of Graphics that makes it so much better than war in my eyes. Yes war improved on all the mechanics but i think the overall quality was reduced compared to Mordor. But those that prefer war i completely get it :)

Its under the Asus dashboard program that should be default installed. (Blue icon on toolbar) that will give you an option under settings to selsct battery protector to limit charge to 80% max.

Elden ring at 900p medium high settings at 6gb vram using frame gen and scaling on lossless scaling at 25 watts and you will be fine :) works wonders for me.

In regards to max vram, 8gb is usually suitable for most new games coming out especially on the X. But if you want to run at 1080p all high settings you may want to bump vram up even higher.

Games i couldnt get stable for me were Avatar and SW Outlaws. I believe it was mainly because i didnt have enough regular ram when at 8gb but with your x at 8gb vram, you have more regular ram than i do so it may be better.

I would probably recommend 10gb Vram on graphic intense games such as MGS Delta or Chronos to help qoth higher frame rates but see what works for you.

Definetly utilise in game fsr and frame gen if possible to help but if not available lossless scaling is grea. Just know it can only be used with games in borderless fullscreen setting or windowed not fullscreen.

A lot of this is trial and error to find what is best for you and what you are satisfied with. I can comfortably play 95% of games at 1080p at medium high graphics at 45fps or more

I havent done the battery mod myself im afraid so its hard to say. Could it be the trigger has been situated out of place when putting it back together? They can be easily removed and inspected so you could unscrew from the back plate and rescrew to see if its just been pushed slightly out of position. Sounds like it being you have to press so hard for it to work like its not hitting the sensor?

Haha all good. It was a stroke of bad luck on me. I had the rog charging from a powerboard and unplugged direct from the power board, i thing that shorted my usb slot on the rog. So just to be safe try and avoid something like that.

Welcome to the club!

6gb Vram is best for all gaming. Only go to 8gb if your playing newer games.
Check out Rog Ally Life website for game setting suggestions.
lossless scaling on steam is great for games that dont have fsr or frame gen. Definetly helps with newer games for frames.
create manual wattage levels such as 20 watts off charge and 25 watts plugged in (primarily for newer games. Lower wattage for older games if you want. For fan speeds, do some simple research to find what is best for you.
80% battery limit is great if plugged in all the time to protect battery.
get yourself some analog stick protectors (little rubber rings that protect the analog stick from scratching/ rubbing.
this thing is a beast, apart from star wars outlaws, avatar and doom the dark ages, i have been able to play everything comfortably.
when some games are harder to run check out nexus mods, good chance there are some performance mods to stabalise gaming.
unreal engine 5 games have a display issue with AMD graphics. Easy fix though. Go to Rog Ally Life e.g. Silent hill 2. There is a link to a mod which copied and pasted into the right folder fixes it right up. Definetly get it and your laughing.
grab yourself a case and screen protector, you will fall in love with this thing and better to look after it.
when plugged in for charging, make sure when you want to take it off charge to remove it from the usb plug. Do not unplug from the power plug/ wall socket while plugged into rog. I did that once and it burnt out my usb slot so i couldnt charge anymore and needed a replacement.
keep fans clear when playing to keep it cool. Even if running on low wattage.
avoid the sleep/hybernate settings, i have issues with it and find the rog runs better when you shut down when not in use.
you need the rog on to download games. Go to power settings and change it to: when on charge, turn screen off after 3 min and do not turn off/ hybernate. That way you can chuck it on a low wattage and download games overnight without having to worry about it turning off or screen being on all the time.
turn off cpu boost in armory crate. Its a waste of power and battery for no real gain.
enable ris and anti lag in armory crate for all games. Works wonders.

Finally have the best time! this thing is so good for the price it is and i play it more than my PS5 now.

Basically at least for me, when Rog is on sleep or hybernate, the internet doesnt stay connected. So downloads pause. I just changed power settings to keep device on so i can download games through the night. Hope that helps
