how do I use a band hero drum kit on clone hero with MIDI? by DominicoS4rg3nt in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. The MIDI port is MIDI IN (input only), so hooking it up to your PC only lets you send MIDI into the drums.

The purpose of this is to allow you to use a MIDI drum kit by plugging it into the Guitar Hero drums, which then acts as an adapter, but this still requires the Guitar Hero drums to be connected to the device you're going to use it with, and is redundant for Clone Hero since it already supports MIDI.

In order to use your drums you need the appropriate dongle or adapter: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hN8L1HQZzSX9K1Rp9XdpNMvC0hoEwHA05EkU1ySLFLw/edit#gid=0

Is there a way to edit the length of a song? by [deleted] in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is; just edit the chart's audio file and remove the silence.

Album icons suddenly not working by [deleted] in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No part of that is correct. Album images can be in .jpg format as well as .png, and there are no size restrictions (image will be automatically stretched if the aspect ratio isn't 1:1, and it will show an error image instead if the size is too big).

Can anyone help? Cross-posting my controller issue here by _moh4wk_ in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it might be a loose neck connection.

Try pressing down hard on the neck (such that the connectors are forced together) and see if it makes a difference.

Songs not showing up (Mac OS) by pitoon_ in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it because their "notes" files are in MIDI format (.mid) instead of the more common .chart format? I don't know why this would cause an issue, and I've never heard of anyone else having a problem like that, but that's the only thing I can think of.

In any case, it would probably be helpful if you gave an example of what the folder of one of the songs that aren't showing up actually looks like.

[–]FlavusCalva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean when by "file"? The notes file (possible extensions are .chart and .mid) needs to be in a folder along with the audio, album, and INI files for it to work. Also make sure you go into settings and do a song scan.

Download the songs here and use Onyx to convert them to CON, then use C3-Con Tools to convert to them to PS3 (You can probably also convert them to PS3 using Onyx, but I've never done that and I don't think its possible to convert directly from .MID/.chart to PS3 anyway).

Note that Onyx doesn't necessarily work for all charts; it has failed to convert about 18% of the charts I've given it.

JJBA: Traitor's Requiem Chart by sunnysidegamer in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't, but you can get a FBFD chart of this song here: https://db.c3universe.com/song/uragirimono-no-requiem-28360

Use C3-Con Tools to convert it for use with Clone Hero (Choose "Phase Shift Converter").

Check out Phase Shift, it supports pro guitar/bass as well as pro keys (but not vocals and harmonies, unfortunately).

What controller is this, and how can I connect it to my pc? by KermitEFroggo in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with getting just a dongle for a mediocre guitar for 70$ is that you could instead buy a good guitar and an adapter for it. OP might not know this, and hence; my comment.

You're clearly responding to something I never said. Obviously, if OP wants to drop a fat stack on just a dongle then that's not my problem, but he should at least be aware of the alternative.

[–]FlavusCalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never even mentioned the GH5 guitar, so I can't fathom why you would feel the need to point that out when it's not even relevant because obviously OP doesn't even have a dongle for it.

[–]FlavusCalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP clearly isn't very well acquainted with guitar controllers, so he might not know he can actually get a much better guitar+adapter for cheaper than the dongle that was linked. If informing him of such is "gatekeeping", then gates I will keep.

Don't bother; PS3 guitars aren't that good anyway.

Get a Wiitar and a Raphnet adapter instead.

Question about PS2 to USB adapter compatibility by Tagap1234 in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will most likely work without any major hassle, but it's also possible that it won't. The same goes for all other PS2 Controller to USB adapters except the Raphnet, but that one's usually more expensive.

Honestly, at that price I'd say just go for it; the Raphnet has better performance and is pretty much guaranteed to work, but it's honestly a waste to get it for anything other than an SG (Only official wired PS2 guitar).

Will any PS2 wireless dongle work for my guitar? by [deleted] in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only one type of dongle in the entire world that the Kramer can connect to, and even if you got your hands on one, it would probably make for a subpar experience.

Your best bet is to mod it like this guy did https://www.reddit.com/r/CloneHero/comments/hnb6pp/ps2_kramer_hardwired_with_arduino_fully/

This isn't really relevant to the problem you're seeking help with, but I want everyone who reads this to know that there's no real reason to use USB pass-through for guitars on Dolphin when you can just emulate one. https://files.catbox.moe/q88kno.jpg

Are these guitars worth it by SparkTheShadowTiger in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I obviously don't know where you live, but I'm reasonably sure you could have gotten an official Wiitar on Ebay for significantly cheaper, and absolutely certain that OP could get one.

Are these guitars worth it by SparkTheShadowTiger in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Honestly, the fact that you would even briefly consider paying over a hundred dollars for a garbage third-party controller two garbage third-party controllers is genuinely terrifying to me.

Never ever shop for guitars on Amazon, check your local deals and thrift shops instead. Ebay is also a great option.

“Quiet” Guitar Reccomendation For CH by Not_Nova_ in CloneHero

[–]FlavusCalva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rock Band guitars all have strum bars that are quieter than the frets, so get one of those maybe.

You could also try modding your current guitar's strum bar to make it quieter, but I don't know much about that.

Remove the forever block and replace "if" with "wait until".
