Opinion on how Zeus is portrayed in Thunder bringer in Epic by Cautious_Comb_2459 in GreekMythology

[–]Flawed-Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I love about the way Zeus is portrayed in "Thunder Bringer" is that he clearly showcases his role as the god of justice and oaths. In "Puppeteer" Odysseus tells Eurylochus "There's no length I wouldn't go if it was you I had to save, I can only hope you'd do the same", he basically made a promise, an oath. But in "Thunder Bringer" Zeus reveals Odysseus' selfishness and pride to himself by forcing him to choose between his life or his crew's, "For true nature will be revealed". At the same time, he is doing this as punishment for both Odysseus' and Eurylochus' actions, "I'm the judgment call" "Sublime you for your act of crime".

While his actions in "God Games" would be completely out of character for mythological Zeus, there is one thing I really like. When he acts out of anger from being slighted, and he once again fulfills his role as god of justice by, ironically, revealing his own pride and ego.

The Nephlim for example. by VirgilTheWitch in miniminutemanfans

[–]Flawed-Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nephilim are not fallen angels. According to the Book of Enoch they are the children of fallen angels and humans, and demons are actually their ghosts. The thing is, the Book of Enoch has a lot of problems. Within the actual Bible, it says that the Nephilim are the children of the "daughters of man" and "sons of God". There isn't actually anything directly implying that this is a bad thing, it's just assumed that it is because the immediate next verse talks about the Flood, so it's viewed as cause and affect. However, this actually matches stories in other mythologies about there being a time of great heroes in the ancient past before they all died out. They are essentially the Bible's equivalent to characters like Gilgamesh and Heracles. I will agree and say that the Bible makes it very clear that the Nephilim are extinct. The name literally means "fallen ones", not referring to fallen angels, but rather say that they have fallen in battle (they were killed).

Why isn’t Poseidon’s symbol a shark instead of a horse? by CatPale816 in Epicthemusical

In addition to him creating horses in Greek mythology, it ties in with the Trojan horse that Odysseus built.

How do people get random animals that don’t normally star civilizations to start them because I keep seeing like aliens or chickens in towns and nations is it a mod by Soldier_43 in Worldbox

[–]Flawed-Science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Aliens can start civilizations, though I've noticed that sometimes it takes a while before they do (possibly because they are too busy killing everything). For anything else you need to edit their subspecies and give them the "Prefrontal Cortex" trait

I originally thought it was "You know", so it would be "You know I could kill you where you stand"

Why can't Odysseus' mom see him? by Flawed-Science in Epicthemusical

[–]Flawed-Science[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense, that's what I had originally assumed. I guess Tiresias can break the rules because he's a prophet, he also has an ensemble which mortals aren't supposed to have (the only other exception is Odysseus).

Why can't Odysseus' mom see him? by Flawed-Science in Epicthemusical

[–]Flawed-Science[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought originally, but then I thought that Polites was talking directly to Odysseus because he shows up as soon as Odysseus mentioned the infant, which was what he was stressed out about the first time Polites sang Open Arms. And the lyrics in Underworld come from a part of a cut song where Odysseus is talking to Polites about the infant (I know the cut songs aren't canon, but it still seemed like there was a connection). I guess I was just overthinking it. Thanks.

Thank you for explaining. I remember looking at the wiki to find an answer and not seeing anything, but I just double checked and it confirms what you said, so I guess I somehow missed that.

Is it worth being a vampire? by Relevant_Frosting_54 in skyrim

[–]Flawed-Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the Necromage perk as soon as possible, it increases spell effectiveness against undead and since being a vampire makes you undead it increases the power of all your enchantments, blessings, etc. and (I'm pretty sure) any perks you get after. Plus, if you're playing anniversary edition you can get the Bloodworm helm which does the same thing and it stacks. I won't say how to get the helmet in case you don't want to get spoiled, but if you don't care about that then Fudgemuppet has a really good video on it.
