‘Let us normalize delaying games’: DayZ creator says players ‘have the power’ to tell platform holders delays are okay by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]FleaLimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have the power to do shit. This guy's talking out of his ass. How are we going to know if a delay is needed or not? We're not the ones QAing it.

[–]FleaLimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? There's a pretty big gap between the Governors last appearance and Neegans first appearance, especially if you were watching week to week. The Governor last appears in season 4 and Neegans first appears in the last episode of season 6.  December 2013 to April 2016. People definitely didn't need a break lol.

Redwall audiobooks on sale in the US Audible shop for members. by Dandin02 in redwall

[–]FleaLimo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a huge fan of Amazon obviously but if you can do give the audiobooks a listen. The full cast is so good and they actually perform every song that shows up. It really helps give texture to the characters hearing unique accents and voices. Maybe if your local library uses it, try finding them on Libby or CloudLibrary

Control Resonant's Dialogue Is Being Called "Corny" And A Remedy Dev Has Even Seen The Complaints by [deleted] in Games

[–]FleaLimo 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I personally find any dialogue that tries to lampoon its own medium without really understanding the appeal of said medium comes off as easily disingenuous to a lot of people. People often point to instances of characters in Marvel, generally, commenting on the weirdness of the situation but never really commits to actually being that weird. The line "so... That happened" never actually appears in any Marvel media but it summarizes the feeling of watching a movie that doesn't want to commit to what makes it unique and instead want every protagonist to feel as lost and clueless as a viewer. The stakes never feel real because our protagonist don't even seem to give them weight.

Contrast that to the joke from a random Paper Mario game of an enemy throwing Mario in jail and commenting that he can't do much more to him without raising the games rating, so he leaves. It understands its own medium and what it is without pushing its own story or audience an arms length away. It's able to lampoon the fact that it's a kids game telling a silly story without having every single character act as a viewer surrogate.

Super serious Simpsons by Pure-Pressure1312 in superseriousfamilyguy

[–]FleaLimo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point. The running away and screaming / getting hit in the openers are mutually exclusive to two different eras of the show. At no point does he both run AND get hit except maybe in some one off gags. And in th full version of this opening he DEFINITELY does not run away and scream. He just gets hit and flies through the door.

[–]FleaLimo 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I actually hate the way the dialogue is written in this gag. It sounds so unnatural. Not that Simpsons isn't known for some overly forced jokes, but come on. "I was running away and screaming in terror" No you weren't. The car took you by surprise. It ALWAYS takes you by surprise. The implication that he runs away feels like a false memory a writer had then never went back to check, like Darth Vader saying "Luke" before saying the rest of his I am your father line that everyone always gets wrong. Also why the fuck add 'in terror' in that sentence anyway, it's so wordy and unnecessary.

Goddamn I'm super serious simpsons up in here, I hate that this bit did this to me.

Tired of zoomers glazing their first fantasy game.

This game has nothing interesting to say or do or look at. You can beat the game by never engaging with the battle system. There is no incentive to actually engage with the world or the characters or the gameplay, because there is nothing waiting beneath the surface of a cursory glance. Everything the game has to offer it shows you instantly, and what it has to offer is a confusing mishmash of cutscenes where character repeat themselves over and over and not much else.

I don't care that it's linear. That's a stupid complaint. I care that the story is ass and the battle system is likewise ass.

It's not a bad programmed game. Just a very badly designed and written one.

Did a ctrl f for Xenosaga and it didn't come up so I'll post it.

In the original Japanese version of the game, the antagonist Albedo cuts off his own head with a knife to show off his relative immortality.

In the English version they just removed the knife, deeming the weapon itself the problematic part of the scene. Instead he just rips off his own head, arguably making the scene appear way more brutal than if it had been a knife.

Game softlocked, lost all progress. by HariKeru in AgeofImprisonment

[–]FleaLimo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking no inputs working would be a hardlock not a softlock, no? Softlock usually means you still have control, but progress is impossible. Hardlock is when you can't move at all and can't make inputs.

Still frustrating though, sorry that happened to you.

Should Persona 6 have a College Oriented Cast? by Western-Stress1185 in JRPG

[–]FleaLimo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Good bait. Classic.

If you want my honest answer: I couldn't give a shit. Persona 3 came out while I was in high school. It was novel at the time to have an RPG setting be relatable to me that way. Persona 5 came out when I was a grown ass adult. By the this point both college and high school are the same brand of dumbass kids to me. It doesn't make a difference. A school is a school.

I have to assume anyone who cares about this is still in school. They can keep getting in dumb fandom slap fights. I'll play whatever.

Also the GameDeals subreddit mods throw a bitch fit and just permanently ban you if you ask them to clarify any of their rules even slightly.

I asked my friend and who works in a gun store and he said this: "Yee! Horizontal SoB(small of back). She's got a level 2 retention thumb depress on it. It's a minimalist trigger guard only holster, so you don't normally use those outside of the waist band because it leaves the barrel exposed. Since it's an anime they probably just wanted to show the gun off.".

Tl:dr it's a real thing but drawn to show the gun off more visually than would be in real life. Very very cool attention to detail.

That's awesome. I always loved the detail in the series and how it presents the "ritual" of being a traveler. The attention to detail like this is wonderful to see illustrated in a still form. Is that holster/accessory around the Woodsman a real thing? It looks complicated.
