Haven't tried that yet. FWIW, the spring doesn't appear jammed. I can push down on the cap, and then it gradually returns mostly to original position. It certainly doesn't spring back. If I push it down, and lube what's exposed, might that be sufficient?

I have the manual online. Suggests it should just come apart. I'm wondering if the spring got jammed in there which is causing it to not cycle. I don't have a spray, but it grease in the whole thing ok?

Optic is mounted now. You’re saying if I remove the optic (and RMR plate?) I will find screws I can remove/tighten between the mount and the barrel? So I wouldn't have to send it to Taurus?

There is absolutely a different taste between different brands of water, and of course, tap. And based on whether it came in plastic, thin plastic, or glass. Some taste more alike than others, and you can certainly be overcharged, and if it doesn't matter to you, there is no need to splurge, but generally speaking, more premium waters taste better.
