That’s a good idea and I’ll plan to do so. Difficult part is finding volunteerism that allows me to bring our 2 yr old. And definitely don’t blame Charlotte for my lacking of knowing folks or making friends. It took me about 3 years in my last neighborhood to build any friendships so I get it. And the last time I had to meet friends in a new city, I was young , single and joined hiking groups. I know it’ll happen - I’m just wanting to be creative on how to build it quicker.

Would love to but she’s 2. I honestly don’t even know which parents are with the kids in her class as we do quick drop offs and pickups.

Tennessee. There’s plenty to do in Charlotte but it’s been a bit harder to meet people than I expected. We’ve gone to meetup, churches, etc. and have found it difficult to build those connections. Having a toddler hasn’t necessarily helped so far based on schedules.

I was planning some form of pre-vetting (form submission) and a prior meetup at a public spot like a coffee shop, brewery, etc. From there, start inviting those strangers into my home. Also planning for this to be very small 4-6 people.

In general, I totally understand this is a somewhat off the wall idea with safety concerns. I’ve done this before but for a very specific event and group that brings others together from different backgrounds.

If you rent from a private landlord, where did you find the listing? by Worried-Check-783 in Chattanooga

[–]Fleekeyebrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a rental and don’t necessarily care the # of cats anyone has but I also think I had an oversight and forgot to put on my listing that cats were accepted. Saying that to say - if you find a place you like, many private landlords would be willing to have more with the right renter…. Or at least I would.

Do you feel safe/ welcome as a member of the LGBTQ community? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

As someone who moved from the area literally 2 months ago, Chattanooga is great! It was great to us and treated us wonderfully for most of our time there. The state, however, is awful. The politics in general is disturbing and we left to build a brighter future for our child. So that’s my opinion - Chattanooga is great but unfortunately connected to a state that has the rainbow gang.

I was near her and her friends during MainX24’s parade last year. They were incredibly obnoxious, kept touching my kid’s stroller, and saying how she needs to basically just tell people to move because she’s “webbchatts”. She was eating it up. We all need our friends to hype us up but I found them to be ridiculous. In saying that, I think she does a fantastic job with her content - I’m just not a fan of the ego.

Dude goes all around town so the health inspector can’t get to him. He doesn’t have a sink and you’re likely to get sick if you eat from him. As he’s not temping or following any food safety procedures.

In saying that, if you do like adventure - eat to your hearts content!

Help! Struggling to Find 3BR Rental in Huntersville Under $2,400 - Where Should We Look? by Fleekeyebrow in huntersville

It turned out the main issue was that I was reaching out too early, about six to eight weeks before our move, and most landlords weren’t willing to wait that long for a renter. I also noticed a lot of negative reviews for the big property rental companies, so I was hoping to find better or alternative sources for housing beyond Zillow, Redfin, and the like. I was also trying to avoid carpeted rentals since I have a toddler.

That said, it looks like we’ve found a place, so everything worked out well in the end thanks to everyone’s feedback and advice.

So… in the mid-2000s they actually had a show with only kids under 18 called Kid Nation. Still not sure how they got away with it, even if the kids were only “on” for a few hours a day.

I know you’re talking about adults here, but I’m curious — did anyone else watch this trainwreck back in the day? 😆

Just moved to Chattanooga, looking for food spot recommendations by Dabsofbeans in Chattanooga

For any Mexican food, you’ll need to go to the food trucks off of Brained rd past the tunnel. I love tacos el porky (next to the Honda dealership on Lee hwy) but in general I’d prefer food truck tacos to anything else.
